Random Acts of Kindness...

walked a scared old lady to her bus stop. missed my bus but another was coming in 20 minutes anyway.

i think most people would have done it tho, she was standing on the edge of the road looking really frightened not moving. so guess its not that kind.

altho people were giving me dodgy looks as i walking with her across the road holding her hand....

Perhaps people that do things for others to make themselves feel better should question why they feel the need to do this???

Patronising git.
Who are you to question other people's motives for being kind?

I enjoy doing things to help people because it makes me feel good knowing I have helped someone who needed it or just doing something nice if it makes someone smile - as do most people.
It doesn't make us selfish at all and it certainly doesn't mean our lives are lacking in other ways that we feel the urge to do so. We will continue to perform these random acts of kindness for whatever reasons seem to fit to us with or without your approval, thank you very much.

Stan :)

A while ago the weary barmaid at my local was desperate to leave at midnight as she was becoming increasingly fed up with a large group of travellers who wouldn't drink up and leave. I stepped in and offered to run the bar until they had had their fill or until I was too drunk to care, whichever was sooner. A week later I was offered a job doing the 'rough' end of the week. I don't mind, I get out of the house for the evening and get paid enough Guinness tokens to last the week.

Last Friday I offered to design a set of posters for Buster Bloodvessel for one Guinness per poster. He phoned me this afternoon to take me up on the ridiculously good offer!

Tonight I shall feed the 5000.....well, pour many a Guinness, which is like a meal in itself. Mmmm!!

I met a girl in the takeaway on the way back from a nightclub on Tuesday and took her back to my flat! :p

She is not answering my calls now - perhaps she wants to keep the memory of a perfect night alive ;)

Say "Pardon?"

They will look

Then say "Oh, sorry I thought you said thanks that's all"

That is fantastic. I'm getting frustrated the amount of times I go OUT OF MY WAY to help someone for them to not even look/smile/say thanks. I'll use that one from now on :D

Bestowed on me:
A kind man at Liverpool st station yesterday helped me carry my overnight bag up the stairs... so there are some gentlemen left in this world.. ;)

I bestowed on people:
In the supermarket the other weekend and a couple couldn't find the Turkey Ham, I found it and told them where it was... I think they were shocked as I had to say excuse me to get their attention as no one speaks to anyone in London... lol

OK... that was a little lame... so I have another, my boyfs birthday yesterda and I got him a framed photo from a course he was on, he emailed it to me, so I emailed one of the guys on the fwd address list and got the names and whos who of everyone in the photo. I added the names to the bottom of the photo. I think he was impressed. His mum and nan certainly were when I gave them copies. :)

Hey, you made me remember another one. I was walking into town the other day and heard a woman asking a Big Issue salesman if he knew where the shop 'Office' was. I piped up and said I'd show her if she bought a Big Issue. Somewhat shockingly she did, and so I had to take a detour to show her where the shoe shop was. Does that count as two good deeds? ;)

I don't remember a fraction of stuff that I do - it's not noteworthy or anything like that - it's just what you do when you see another person in a spot of bother and you can help out. It's 50p, or half a minute, or whatever - it would be a bit of a No swearing! trick not to help out IMHO.

Stuff that's been done for me by strangers: the main one was an ebayer* whom I'd bought a modem off a few months previously. I needed a smallish HDD - which he had a couple of - but I couldn't pay till the end of the month. He sent me the drive with a note saying pay me when you get paid!

And I feel no shame in saying that that little act of trust and kindness had me in tears.
