Random musings on F01 730d

Can anyone comment on what the Comprehensive BMW warranty covers that the Named Component doesn't? Named Component seems to cover everything major that could go wrong?
 
It covers everything not listed in the exclusions whereas named component only covers what is listed. I have never found it cheap enough to be worth it. I think it's missing some of the electronics etc
 
For anyone who cares I placed a deposit on a car over the weekend. I'll post some info and photo's when I collect it. Don't want to jinx it :rolleyes:
 
There is nothing rubbish about the F01. It's a great car. In some respects the XJ is a better car, in other respects the F01 is better.

Not everyone wants 'soul' (what even is that?) in a diesel saloon car.
 
I saw a 5GT in an almost matt dark grey at the supermarket tonight - possibly the best colour I've seen for a 5GT. Seemed to take away some of the bulk around the C pillars / boot.
 
A very nice new 7 Series pulled up alongside me at the petrol station. Long wheel base, exec rear seating and rear entertainment package.sweet :)

I thought we were talking about automatic diesel saloon cars here not sports cars?

I'm being a bit obtuse because I do know where you are coming from but I find it hard to accept that a large saloon car is 'rubbish' simply because it doesnt have 'hints of eccentricism'. I like the XJ, I think it's a fabulous car, but I don't see how the F01 is 'rubbish' in comparison. There are pros and cons of each - the Jaguar is better looking and has a better, more refined image, the BMW has a better powertrain, better electronics and infotainment system, the Jaguar rides better, the BMW handles better, etc etc. It's six of one, half dozen of the other and neither are poor choices. Which is the best car is going to come down largely to personal taste - they are two slightly different approaches to this market segment.

Yeah MY16 XJ is now Simply competitive.

A week after most cars though it doesn't really make much difference to day to day use IMO. Audi MMI personally does my head in.

Well it would seem that just talking about it has jinxed it, had a call from the dealer and they can't sell the car as it needs £4500 worth of work so will be off to the auctions. Look's like outside of servicing it's been maintained on the cheap so lots of non standard parts and all four wheels need replacing :(

The hunt has made me realise just how good my GS450h is for what I need from a car and frankly after 3 weeks of dealing with the motor trade which for the most part has been a distinctly frustrating and in some cases unpleasant experience I'm going to wait for 6 months and then take another look.
