Hello all

My PC has seemed to have developed a random fault. It seems to totally loose power for about 5 seconds. Its as if the Mains cable has been pulled. Everything goes off and i get a "pop" from the speakers. Then 3-5 seconds later it powers back up again and works fine. Its only started doing it (no hardware changes at all) am i right in pointing the finger at the PSU ? The psu is a CORSAIR HX 850W Purchased in May 2011 (7 year warranty to) everything else is relatively new CPU MOBO / less than 6 months, Graphics card 3 months. i have checked all connections with nothing being loose.
Sometimes it can go 3-4 hours without a problem then others just an hour. I think its load related as it only seems to do it whilst gaming (the most PSU load too) however i think the PSU is more than gutsy enough for my hardware (see sig)

Whats your thoughts ?

Easier said than done, i purchased this before i started using overclockers :( came from a portsmouth based company that i have had nothig but problems with returning stuff. Still will give it a whirl. Not sure i can go without a psu for this long tho :(

Does the corsair rep come on here ? Any one know his name ?

I know the company exists, unfortunately their customer service does not. Have had nothing but very bad experiences with them. Miles off OC Customer service imo.

Cheers buddy, i will give it a little while, i wonder if there is a way i can purchase another and then get a refund etc. would rather not be without a pc for any longer than a few days.

I have created an rma, however it says express rma not avaliable on this product :-O i cannot be without a psu for a month lol, i have tried a friends superflower psu and no fault so im sure its the psu now.however if corsairs return policy is leave the customer without a psu for weeks i will never but another corsair product again. Fingers crossed i will get a decent reply from my rma i have attached pictures the lot

Hi Randall,
Based on your OP, it does sound like a PSU problem. I see that you already have created a ticket for it.. You can post your ticket # here so I can take a look and make sure that we get it processed accordingly. In regards to not having a PSU in the meantime, I would strongly suggest that you request an Express RMA rather than doing standard RMA. That way, we can send you the replacement first vs sending the faulty unit first then get a replacement.

As a caveat, you will need to phone in to set up an Express RMA. Contact info will be provided once your ticket has been approved. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to contact me directly.

Well Guys they have answered my RMA quite quickly, They just asked for a copy of the receipt so that has been sent. Fingers crossed Corsair do well here i have never had to send any corsair stuff back before, used their AIO's, ram, psu etc over the years. Will update the post once resolved :)

Thanks for posting the ticket #. I went ahead and approved that for you. You will get additional instruction from our customer service shortly.

As for requesting Express RMA, you can call this # 1-888-222-4346 M-F 7:00-5:00 PM PST (free call outside the USA via skype)
