Hmmm no SBS does not autodestruct after any period of time i am aware of.

It will last as long as the hardware it is running on lasts. You do not have to upgrade to a new version just because a new version is out.

Well, until MS EOL it and stop providing security updates, so yes, they do indeed have a finite life.

Best way is to make the OpenFire server auth against your AD/LDAP server.

Which is generally 7-8 years after release, my bet is the hardware will have ceased to be useful by then...
