Random, request help please!

Ok, we made a bit more progress then. I did what you said this time is brings up a screen which i remember from when it worked, it shows 3 hard drives and on the end the status, on the two it shows as in raid state 0, then the 80 gig i didnt catch what raid state. it goes further then goes to windows page where it stats loading, then blue screens. I had to set everything back to how it was and take out my slave drives to get back on here.

That was definitley your problem - just needs tweaking now...

Ok, you need to reinstall the drives and then try re-installing windows with the drives in situ.

•install the HDDs
•start comp - hit delete change boot priority so that cdrom is first boot
•Check that the 'Configure SATA As' is still set on RAID 0
•insert windows dsik
•save exit
•reboot - install windows - making sure you pick the 80gig drive ;)
•Thane' hopefully you can boot into windows with all 3 disks
•Than you may have to reformat your RAID drives.

I'm off to bed now - so will catch up with this tomorrow - but i'll hang around for your reply as to what/when your going to try this...

No, you just install it on the 80gig - you get given the option of which drive to install the OS on during install. Obviously, you would choose the 80gig. (HAve you installed an OS before?)

Worry about formatting the RAID drives later...

Have a good night sleep mate, and thanks for your help so far. I will try and get this working, you have been amazing.

It's been epic.

I’m afraid my fever is peaking – which is why I’ve been sat here for 3 hours as I have nothing else I can do – but I’m spent now. so i'm off to bed. (If i can't sleep i may come back later)

I will pick this up again tomorrow at some point - probably in the morning. In the mean time try the following as it may resolve it - if it doesn’t we’ll format the RAID drives too.

Again follow to the letter:

  • install the HDDs back on to the mobo
  • start comp - hit delete to get into BIOS
  • change boot priority so that cdrom is first bootable device
  • Check that the 'Configure SATA As' is still set at RAID 0
  • insert windows disk
  • save exit
  • reboot - follow on screen instructions...
  • install windows - making sure you pick the 80gig drive
  • After Windows has installed, hopefully you'll be able to boot into windows with all 3 disks attached to the mobo.
  • Than you may have to reformat your RAID drives - but that's for later...
Best of luck...

EDIT: If you're doing the above tonight post your results (comprehensive reply please ;))

wow it's worked, i am sat here rubbing my eyes in disbelief. Your are owed a night out, your my saviour and god. I haven't lost a thing, the only thing i lost is my over-clocked speed which can wait till i phone them on monday to help me with the settings they set.

You where right in what you said and instructed, the last set of instructions went without a hitch, and now it's back

I am forever in your debt, you really dunno how much this means. wow.

your my saviour and god.

Excellent – I went to bed a mere mortal and woke up as a newly appointed deity - I shall have to add that to my CV ;)

I’m glad it worked out for you – it was one of those problems that had I had the computer in front of me I could have sorted in 5 minutes (plus windows install). Unfortunately, when communicating via a forum, things get lost in translation and take considerably longer – but it was worth it for the result.

I would have offered to set your over clock – but, due to your limited BIOS knowledge, it would be wiser to ring OC’s and just have them talk you through the process. It should only take them a few minutes over the phone and then you’ll be fully up to spec…

I’m happy it worked out for you and your obvious relief is thanks enough – although the offer of ‘omniscient-entity’ is a tempting position…

Good luck with it and I hope it carries on behaving itself.

Amen ;)

To me your are this 'entitiy' :P! My kids shall be named in your honour, and we shall have annual rituals in your name!

Yeah i appreciate you wanting to help. But as you say my BIOS knowledge is garbage so.

haha, AMEN!
