random restart

IMAG0030.jpg

would that be likely to cause the issue?

The clip isn't locking on to the card as it can't get any closer due the mobo

Tried reseating again can't get it any better card is pushed right against the mobo plastic and sata ports.

Would this be likely to cause the random crashes?

Changed the PSU this morning and it just restarted again (both 650w) so can assume it's not a dodgy PSU.

CPU VCORE is at 0.93-0.96 isn't that a bit low? (nvm ofc it will as it's idle and multiplier is dropped)

or any other ideas?

Ok turned off the auto-restart on the BSOD and apparently this is whats happening

and for some reason aren't able to save the crash dump...

Any ideas? going to look up on the bsods atm.

ever since turning off the auto-restart i've BSOD'd 3 times in the space of 10 minutes...

Tried reinstalling drivers again (currently using ccc 11.9 as no later version works) and just like the 12.4 update, 12.6 BSOD's soon as windows loads saying;

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

*** STOP: 0x00000050

*** atikmdag.sys

and fails to save the dump.

So i've had to system restore back to 11.9 again

Any idea why the BSOD occurs (it occurs everytime windows loads, so I can't log in as it's had a BSOD before user screen shows) when I'm trying to use up to date drivers?

what dram and cpu/vtt are you using? random restarts esp in gaming can be system memory not setup correctly or not enough voltage

try setting your gpu memory freq to 1150mhz as unstable gpu memory can cause random restarts/lock ups also

on AMD overdrive the GPU clock is from 840 to 800, and memory is 1250Mhz which is lowest it can go, can go to 1250-1325

will get vtt next restart.

DRAM freq is ~802.6 Mhz

you have to double ram freq in cpu-z so 802=1604mhz ram speed

sure you cant lower gpu memory in catalyst control centre? is overclocking unlocked? look for the padlock on that screen and unlock it so you can adjust it ect

is that card bought from new or off someone? on my card i can set anything for the memory speed, just thought it bit strange 1250 was lowest you can set

next time your in the bios look for dram voltage and cpu/vtt voltage and post back, could need a slight adjustment,

my gpu kept doing the same thing as yours but only in certain games not all,my memory clock was 1275mhz,since i dropped it to 1250mhz or 1230 cant remember it hasnt locked up once

Was bought from here (OcUK not MM)

I originally bought a 6850 which was RMA'd as faulty and I upgraded to the 6950

I've had the restart issue since I bought the comp in like november last year, but originally I put the blame on SSD as it was a known issue but didn't have time to flash etc (never flashed a ssd before so wanted to backup etc) and done it a few months ago and issue persisted rarely, but since playing games I noticed it's been happening 3+ times a day.

Thing with it is it happens when idle as well so not only when playing games :P

ahh was gonna say, folks can edit the gpu bios to set specific mem/core clocks thats why i wondered why it wouldnt adjust

if its doing it in idle, can still be unstable memory or memory controller(cpu/vtt) or not enough cpu voltage at idle

could be something else entirely but id check/test those first

max safe for dram voltage is 1.5750v and cpu/vtt 1.2v
for cpu/vtt id use around 1.10v

looks ok,ram voltage seems bit high for cas 11 timings though

does the memory support xmp? could set it to that/profile 1 if that doesnt help could try setting these to

1.5750v for dram

1.05v for the vccio if still freezing try the other way and 1.10v vccio
