Random things you've discovered about your Mac/Macbook

I remembered more.

Spotlight can do sums, handy for working stuff out in a hurry.

Close a Safari window involving multiple tabs all at once using CMD + Shift + W

Select a bit of text in any app, drag and drop it onto the Safari dock icon to Google it

You can make a PDF from any app that can print, there is a button in the bottom left of the print dialog which also includes the supremely handy 'Mail as PDF' option

When you drag a file to somewhere on the hard drive, instead of waiting for the folder to flash and let you in, space bar will make it open immediately. Quick Look has pretty much ruined this though.

Alt + Click on WiFi icon and it'll show a load if information about your connection; signal strength, transfer rate, connection type (a/b/g/n) etc.

Alt + Click on Audio icon and you can select Audio I/O devices from the volume menu!

Open Terminal, type 'say' then anything you want, and your Mac will say it!

CMD + full stop will do the 'cancel' or 'no' option on nearly all dialog boxes.

The 'Cancel, Don't Save, Save' boxes use the shortcuts:

CMD + . - Cancel
CMD + D - Don't Save
CMD + S - Save

Just found this one out:

CMD + ` (the key next the the left shift which has this on it as well: ~) together switches between windows in the same app, i.e. if you have two Word docs open it switches between them rather than CMD + Tab which switches between apps.

FINALLY!

Been looking for something quicker like that for when I have multiple word documents open other than with exposé! :D

cmd + ` = best find here bar none!

Thank you so much!

I was pretty happy when I found that one too. Lots of ftp windows open was madness without that shortcut.

Cmd + shift + 4 allows you to drag and take a screenshot.

Cmd + tab cycles through programs open, adding shift will cycle backwards through them.

Hold Alt + Shift when using the volume keys and you can adjust in finer increments than the squares.
