randomly getting reboot and select proper boot device

Either you're not saving correctly or maybe it is the battery backup.

What's the time in bios? Is it correct? If that's wrong then it probably is the battery.

Easiest way would be to download something like 'hirens' and burn it to a dvd. You could then run a battery of tests on your system.

Where abouts are you based?

If you bought the PC as a whole then the shop you bought it from may lend a hand. Assuming they're trustworthy.

I'll double check but I'm sure I've covered the basics for boot failure.

Let us know how you get on. OCUK are great with support.

I'm really not sure what's going on googling has drawn a blank everything I've already suggested.

I put in my Windows 7 professional disk and selected update windows so I can keep my files etc

Then this pops up

'The computer started using windows installation disc. Remove the disk and restart computer so that windows starts normally. Then insert the installation disc and restart upgrade. '

So frustrating :/
