Range Rover sport

Actually it's exactly the bodystyle he's after, they produced it from 2005-2014 with some minor tweaking and facelifts but its fundamentally the same car.

Yes it's the same bodystyle.

However, it was quite a significant facelift so it's not really all that comparable. I think the interior was vastly improved, and didnt they go from the 2.7 to the 3.0? Probably enough changes that much of the comments I could make about the '10 wouldnt be particularly relevant.

Absolutely love my FF RR, it makes an absolutely excellent all round day to day family car and I think I would struggle to ever consider anything else. It's just so much better than driving a regular car day to day.

Amazingly, in gosh around 70,000 miles now (how much must I have spent in fuel at 18.6mpg showing as Ave), nothing has really gone wrong with it

I'm really not so sure about the sport though, they are more of a comparable to the discovery range than the full Range Rover.

It seems almost everyone (including me) uses the term 'full fat' to describe the Range Rover, perhaps JLR should consider badging it as such! :D

Anyway, I'm looking for a similar sort of vehicle, but completely discounted the Sport for the same reason as Rilot mentioned. Full fat Range Rover or might as well get an X5...

The Sport is still very good off road, and much nicer inside than the X5. Love mine and wouldn't swap it for anything. Mines a 2011 and I've had it just over 2 years. Apart from the very first day when it broke down (lol) I haven't had any issues with it at all.

Just a very capable and comfortable car in all circumstances, from daily commuting, family holidays, tip runs and the occasional off road day. The handling is a fair bit better than the FF (of the same age), although I have all terrain tyres which compromises the outright road grip.

and you see how good it looks sat on the driveway and off road - awesome motor!

Is there only a few OC'ers worth RRS then? Must be a few more lurking here with storys to tell?

Also How does this sound?

July 09 TDV8 HSE with HST body Kit fitted. 31000 mls. full L/R Service History, Stornoway Grey, Full Black Leather.

£21,500

I had to Google "HST body Kit fitted".

I think it looks ghastly, if that helps. :p

The family opposite me have a '62 plate [white] Range Rover of some kind. He's a plumber and I could pass you his number if you want to get his wife's opinion on how well it performs the school run?

Isn't there some kind of Land Rover/Range Rover forum you could ask? Many marques out there have decent communities.

What are you looking for here?

People to say my engine blew up or something?

I imagine most people just find it too 'gangstery' to own.

No, asking here because ocuk is a great place for general knowledge about most things, quick replies and so on..

Sometimes dedicated forums based on a specific vehicle are likely to get replies from enthusiasts, no matter how much they have spent or whatever horror story's they could tell might still say "yeh great car" because they simply "love them" does that make sense?

True. Probably biased.

How much would a decent warranty be. It seems all you're worried is its reliability candles potential bills?

And = candles? Good going "smartphone"...

The rrsport.co.uk forum is good, lots of active members and they're honest about problems/running costs.

I love my RRS, I've got a MY11 TDV6 HSE Luxury, so plenty of kit. No problems to report either although I am finding the fuel bills are adding up a bit!

Have you got any room in your budget to stretch to a 2010 (MY10) model, this is when the facelift came out with a much nicer interior and exterior bits such as different tail lights. I think this may be when they put in the 3l TDV6 engine too, which is a fantastic engine.

If it was me personally, I would be looking at the 10MY+ vehicles because:

- Electrical architecture change
- 2.7 swapped for 3l TDV6 (a much better engine in almost every aspect)
- Slight body facelift

Anyone here got a 2007-09 rrs, looking to buy one and wondered what your views are on it.

Old man had one for a while, whilst under manufacturer warranty luckily, that needed an entirely new gearbox after it started misbehaving badly.

Others that he had of a similar age have had various niggles.

In short, he wouldn't own one without a manufacturers warranty anymore, otherwise they'd have hammered his finances.
