I find the comment on the Raptor being noisy is somewhat user preference. They are noisy in short bursts every few seconds when data is being transferred.
I don't find it easy to sleep, but I do find the noise tolerable throughout the night.

I heard there is a 150gb raptor with a 16mb cache. was this just misinformed?

how come they are quoted here as 8mb cache? Also is the Raptor X an ADFD just a raptor 150gb with a clear cover?

I'm thinking of getting a 36Gb raptor to have Windows Vista on it only, is it worth it? I would like the system to be quiet but the noise comments are putting me off a bit. The rest of my files will be on seperate drives (200Gb seagate for documents and a 80gb Samsung drive for programs)

no because vista takes up about 15gb leaves no space for games get the 74 or use raid 0 i am selling my raptor in 2 weeks as its to smallMeatball said:

It's very quick, I noticed a big jump in Windows load times, game load times, although that was going from an ancient 5,400RPM drive.
Going to a 150GB 16MB version very soon, can't wait.
Only downside is that if you ask it to perform a random seek, it's really very noisy. Luckily if you have plenty of RAM it doesn't do much at all, so it's a little problem.
