Yet another load of rubbish in the whole racism and bad teaching row!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/...ints-of-racism-and-teaching-bad-language.html

The people that complain about things like this really need to get out more! If the rasta mouse had a spliff hanging out of its gob and a bong pipe in his hand I would understand the problem but....it doesn't!

As for teaching bad language.....go back over the years...all the way back to Bill and Ben the flower pot men with there flubba lubba dub talk.....

Does anyone find this racist? its a big no no to me.

I have waaayyyy more issues with Ben10 than I do with rastamouse tbh, not to mention that weird little girl with the pink hair.

No, not racist at all. Jesus what next, guy getting a 13k fine for taking someone down to the cop shop after stealing £845 from him?...

Nope, not racist at all in my opinion. In fact, pretty good at showing off another culture. The content is all good too as he solves various mysteries and whoever is to blame has to 'make it right', and so on.

The only complaint I'd have is that the accents and slang are rather (and unnecessary to the storylines) heavy which isn't exactly great for a channel whose audience is very much in the process of learning 'our' English.

Rastamouse is as racist as Sooty and Sweep.

I jest. This country is overrun by complaining politically correct idiots and they’re the ones who should be banned.

This was on Radio 5 yesterday, there was a Rasta on there who was really upset about it, saying that it should have been Rasta lion rather than Rastamouse due to the history of the rastafarians.

Lets not forget though, that it is a religion, would it be acceptable for Muslimmouse or Roman Catholic Rat?

The only reason to object would be that it is biased towards a certain religion, but even then, so what? If any kids are actually affected by this then the parents are to blame as TV shouldn't be the only form of teaching.

Typically load of crap, three people complain, the papers pick it up and then suddenly there are 10000 complaints or whatever. Load of tosh.

"The thing I'm most worried about is her saying the words like 'Rasta' and going up to a child and saying (these) things ... my child is white and I feel if she was to say this to another child who was not white that it would be seen as her insulting the other child."

The only people adding the racist element are the parents.

It's Mumsnet, what do you expect!

When PistonHeads invaded the Mumsnet forum it was carnage hah
