Ray Bans?

Oh and sorry, yes the G15 is just one colour. It is a lens colour and % tint that Ray Ban created long ago, and it has stood the test of time. But yeah, if you see the words G15 on any Ray Ban, it will be exactly the same colour as all other G15s through the range.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd naughtily hijack this one (sorry Thermaltake, won't be long)

Is there a proper name for the type of glasses that Lennon/Ozzy wear, y'know the rounded ones?

I can't use normal dark sunglasses (won't bore you with the reasons) and the only pair that helped me was of this type and in a green glass(and they were only about £30 at that!)

Any ideas if a highstreet sells them or indeed the proper name for them?

With regards to this question, you say you cant wear normal dark sunglasses, so is it the lenses you want from the Lennon/Ozzy style glasses, or is it the actual shape glasses you are looking for?

Or, there is a black frame, with an awesome grey/green (almost G15) mirrored lens, again not polarised, but looks like the G15, and you wont see your eyes behind.

This is probably the type i've seen. I will have a look now on some websites. Also, when i've been searching for Aviators, i always thought the Mirrored ones were those silver ones which actually look like mirrors on your face. I didnt realise you could get grey/green mirrored etc. Thanks for your help! :)

Rapist glasses!here

PS. Jon LaJoie is very funny!

:D

:D

If it helps, the colour code for the black ones with the grey/green mirrored lenses is 002/37. Should help you track it down! I would have put a picture up for you but im on my phone unfortunately.

Just looked at sunglasses UK and there £120

Didnt wanna spend that much.

Edit, Found them for £77. Thats alright!

I tell you what, for the £77 is a bargin! £120 would be about average in most retail shops, so a smudge over half price...Go for it, you wont regret it...plus theres nothing cooler than the guy on the beach running around with his aviators on, arms out at his side quoting top gun :D

Have a look at Oakley or Bloc glasses, almost all of them will have the same effect, with the added benefit of not looking like a pleb (or an extra from topgun...) ;)

Will try and explain as best I can:

Have a real problem with dark black lenses. I just can't judge depth with them on, fall off the kerb, try to open a door handle and miss-judge it, go for a cup/glass on a table in the sun and knock it, sounds so daft and silly, but I'm afraid that's it.

The purple and green lenses are the only ones (the light blue ones work too, but then they seem to let too much sunlight in) which seem to stop the glare of the sun but still allow me to judge depth.

As for the style of the frame itself, those Lennon/Ozzy (whatever they're called) allow me to easily look over the lenses just in case I do have a little difficulty, and likewise peripheral vision isn't 'cut off' as such in darkness.

Probably sounds way over dramatic than it actually is and probably sounds like I'm some pre-madonna, but in a nutshell that's it.

Just want a cheap pair of sunglasses, nothing flash to literally help reduce glare in the sunlight but still allows me to get about normally without walking into things.

Sorry, im out at the moment, so still on the phone answering this, Ill try answer fully when I get home...However, I thought id chuck this in first. Have you ever been tested for colourblindness? The reason I say so is because of two things...you cant judge depth with dark lenses....some coloured lenses cure this. Certain tints, as in red/purple in particular, in certain people with colour blindness, can alter the way your brain interprets colours, and effectively depth (like 3D glasses), and in a way, correct the colourblindness. Obviously this is completely dependant on the person, and the type of colour blindness one suffers from.

My advice first and foremost above anything else would be to see a specialist about colourblindness. I dont mean pick up a ishihara test (the one with the colour dots) Actually go see a specialist. If you do suffer from any form of colour blindness, then there is a machine that can determine if a tinted lens will work for you (I cant remember the name of the machine for the life of me) but I think there are only about 4 of them in the UK at actual opticians, so they may direct you elsewhere.

Hope this helps in some way
