Is it actually worth downloading? Does it help in any way? Never bothered with it but my computer keeps telling me to use it.

No, Not really.

I have a Black Widow keyboard and bought a death adder. However, the version of Synaps that was required for the death adder was 3 and would not work with the version installed for my Black Widow, 2. In order to macro etc I would have to have 2 versions of Synaps running. I did not bother installing in the end and never had any issues.

About the only thing I've found useful is the DPI message that appears on the screen, otherwise, I wouldn't bother with it.
