Razer entering the world of console gaming

I would have thought every "pro" would buy the razor pad and so it would be fair anyway?

Yes...

Which also makes me think that Pro-Gamers competing in tournaments is pretty silly if they all have to have some fancy 'elite' controller. Surely the whole point in consoles is that it's a level playing field, you play with the standard tools you are given.

If you want all the crazy customization stuff, play it on PC.

The MLG community just want a "no slow" controller.

Yes but to claim that the wireless controller really makes that huge of a difference in response is kind of silly also. If it is such an issue, why can't they all just use standard wired controllers for tournaments.

They have to use wired controllers already. They dont have a choice. That's why they are desperate for a *"no slow" without the joystick problems the MS wired pads end up with due to poor quality from MS.

*"no slow" refers to a pad that doesn't develop a difference in sensitivity in certain directions. Currently the majority of wired MS pads suffer this. This was one of the reasons that MLG teamed up with mad catz. The problem is pretty bad with some of the halo pros having to spend $1000+ on pads or hunting down people on the forums selling them.

Edit: This is just for wired pads it only effects a tiny % of wireless pads. Where as the % of wired pads effect is very high.... apparently :)

I thought they didn't use the wireless pads due to possible interference problems and batteries running out mid match etc.

xim3 > *

/me puts on troll hat.

Xim3 is nothing like a standard controller though, it would be awful for other games etc where as this controller is still a standard controller, joysticks and all so would work fine with other games.

I was mainly just referring to the fact that somebody already mentioned that 'Pros' preferred wireless pads because of a 0.05ms difference or something. But obviously I was aware they would be using wired pads in tournaments anyways, due to battery issues and issues with cheating.

Point still stands though.... so what if there is no adjustment of the analog sticks... that's how MS made it, that's how it comes in the box, that's how you play the console. Which is why I pointed out that it changes the playing field when you start tampering with that when one of the main things about console gaming is that it's a level playing field with the same gear (aside from TVs obviously).

Pro Gamers having to spend £1000+ a year on gamepads?
Give over!
If we average out the cost of a regular wired controller at about £26, that would mean they use 38 gamepads a year!

I play my 360 a lot and I've still got a gamepad from near launch that is fine, albeit a little worn.

Yeah totally. You will be able to use PC stuff at some point though post launch....like PC sticks and wheels

I've had 2 wireless pads that have had this problem, they're really crap to use when they suffer from this. Most of the time I was fighting the pad to turn in the direction I wanted it to go often getting me killed because I couldn't aim in time, it was terrible in Halo 3 for it.

I saw that method and discounted it. I notice near the end at 6:15 he speculates as to what the commercial mods are.

I don't believe the sticks are all so far off centre, but I will get the venereal callipers out next time I have a pad apart.

Ah right well makes sense as I think some of those "no slow" companies people were selling them for $120?

EDIT: Yeah it was http://store.mycustomxbox.com/MCX_No_Slow_Controller_p/cntrllrmcxnslw.htm

There's a thread I saw ages ago on the MLG forums and some of the amounts that tournament players had spent on pads that year was silly so I guess they sell.

I found this over on MLG too from someone behind the commercial mods.

It's actually a Bungie and Microsoft problem. Bungie makes the controller settings too sensitive and Microsoft manufactures controllers that don't output the full range that they are supposed to.

That's what you call first party support, eh? :D

I did wonder that, but are wireless pads really that 'off' in terms of pro-gaming?

I didn't think they would be, but guess so.

I wouldn't use wireless for online gaming on the 360 myself. It might not be a huge amount, but it does increase input lag over the wired controller.
