Razer entering the world of console gaming

Don't thank me, thank Google Chromes' 'auto translate' feature  :p

Looking forward to these controllers, I don't have my 360 anymore but I still have a 360 pad for my PC and I wouldn't mind getting one of these :)

I need to download google chrome. My father in law was trying to get me on to it yesterday,

It's really good, I usually swear by FF but it's seems a bit bogged down now (although it could be my install). I tried Chrome before but had issues with it hanging the desktop window manager but that turned out to be an NVIDIA driver issue. Currently using the new beta and needless to say it's very fast. Give it a try, you'll love it. :D

Just got it.....damn its fast :D

The Onza is out mid september. Avilable in 2 versions.

the "pro" with rubbrised finsihed and adjustable sticks

and the standard with just the programmable buttons.

MLG wont be allowing it at events due to the extra buttons

MLG's senior games tester Killa KC commented regarding the Onza Controller;
Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble, but the Onza controller will be illegal simply because of the 2 programmable buttons. We spoke to Razer about this and told them that it would be illegal if they kept the extra buttons. I guess it wasn’t worth it for them to make a version without the extra buttons.

The big issue with extra buttons is how easy it is to mod the controller without us being able to monitor it. Modders will be able to turn the extra buttons into rapid fire buttons or a macro like RRX. We cannot simply check every player’s Onza controller to make sure they have not modded it. Sure, someone could do that now with a Microsoft controller, but by doing that they are removing a default button on their controller. People pay a lot of money now for modded controllers with extra buttons that will rapid fire or macro. The Onza would make it impossible for us to monitor this on the circuit.

Just to make it clear, there is no conspiracy here. I wish Razer would have listened to us and cared enough to make a version without the extra buttons, but they didn’t.

The Mad Catz controller will not have programmable buttons.

Razer guy's CEO response

The Onza controller has been banned by MLG ... without even having one in their hands! How funny is that? LMAO

The truth is that this kind of stupidity only makes ppl want one even more. Plus providing me with endless laughter. Also it is so comical when they closed the thread while the community was raking them over the coals. Laugh a minute operation.

MLG signed a deal with madcatz to make MLG pro controllers a couple of months back so its hard to say weather or not its because of that.

I'm with MLG on this. You wouldn't let players use any other Rapid fire controller. I don't think Razer should be made an exception.

Razer response seems pretty childish as well...

I find it a bit rich that they won't allow the pads incase people cheat, but they allowed people to abuse glitches in Halo 2 to gain an advantage :p Wouldn't a simple solution be to provide their own pads at the beginning of a match?

They will be releasing a wireless version after the wired version is released but no eta on it yet

Any links for that? I can't find a thing about it. I would much rather have wireless since I sit quite far back from the TV.

This pad no longer has rapid fire BTW. .....I dont think anyway.

Well the complaint is about programmable buttons afaik. Nothing to stop you programming it to performing a move really quickly or turning a pistol into a burst fire gun.

From those quotes, it seems like MLG mentioned to Razer that they can't allow it because of the buttons well in advance to them saying it's banned.

I thought that! Seemed wierd. LOL's and lmao's with name calling thrown in :D

Seems Razers response was made by a child, and anyone with half a brain can see the reasoning for it not being allowed by MLG. It would be an unfair advantage!

programmed Street fighter 4 super and ultra moves at a single button press. Yeah thats fair!

Banned because it's too awesome. I can't wait for this controller to come out, knowing Razer it will literally be the only time in the industry where a third party controller is actually better than the official one.

MLG have a deal with madcatz so its hard to take that out of the equation.

The problem "pros" have at the moment and why this has caused a stir is due to the terrible quality of the MS wired controllers. Basically they end up with dodgy sticks that lower the sensitivity of certain directions with some pros having to spend upwards of $1000 a year and offering huge sums for those pads that dont.

They were all after a "no slow" controller.

That happens to me after a while, I get dead zones on the right stick where it feels like I have to fight the controller to get it to go in the direction I want, I've had to replace 2 pads so far because of this.

So this controller was designed, mostly for the 'pro-gamer' market who compete in tournaments and such, which I'd imagine is already a fairly small niche as it is... yet now it can't even be used in such events before it's even released.

Sounds like a sinking ship if I've ever seen one.

Its the pro gamer marketing not pro gamer market that razer is interested in.

That's UK mid sept from the citrus xbox place.

Looking at getting this when it comes out. You think the FPS Freek will fit on the right stick or is the stick already good enough as it is?
