If they made a wireless one, I would be game, but obviously not, have they not got the point that wireless has such a minimal amount of lag these days that it is barely even noticeable? If so at all...

Its because they are marketing it for tournament use. Its not so much the latency its that wireless is banned.

I'm sure they'd bust a wireless if MS let them.

all game pads need a playstation 2 d-pad, for games like Tony Hawk

if Tony Hawk was even slightly relevant :p All about flick it in Skate now, honestly can't remember the last time I used the d-pad for a game (other than secondary stuff) was probably THUG 2 on the Xbox 1.

It's not going to sell very well then is it really?
I mean, tournament players... do you know any? I certainly don't. It must be such a tiny niche market, that quite why anyone who isn't a 'tournament player' would want to pick one of these over a wireless controller, I fail to see.

Well I'm getting one purely so I can map L3 and R3 to the shoulder buttons, since breaking my hand it really hurts to balance on the sticks for aiming on halo or whatever

Loads in the states. Game battles is huge (100,000s of members) with loads of people that will just pick it up as they look up to pro players and or wish to go to events and play. Just like Razers wired gaming mice which are marketed as "pro gaming mice" which are "tournament grade"

I think most people are interested in the pad because they want the other features. Certainly for me that's the case.

Razer know the market they are aiming for with this product, and I'm sure they'll make a decent profit. If they could do a wireless one at some point I'm sure they will.

Ordered one off Play.com this week.
One of my wireless controllers broke and the other is on it's way out so why not.
Like some of the features, adjustable analog sticks, none mashy buttons.
Hate the feel of Microsoft controller XYAB buttons. You can assign anything you want to the extra triggers, more grippy for those that "sweat" lol. Pretty cool design.
More interested in there headset though but both will look nice on my setup.

designed for tournies then gets banned from them. Good job!

They were banned for having the programmable button, and rightly so imo.

MLG (I think?) told Razer that they wouldn't allow it if it was there whilst this was still being designed. Razer ignored them, and when MLG banned it they threw their toys out the pram and were really childish about it. I think the statements that were made are in the other thread. Couldn't believe how pathetic Razer were over it.

Really? They are not macro programmable or rapid fire controllers, that is just silly banning them. IMO it's no different to changing the button layout within the menu setting to tactical from default.

MLG rules:

"Players may not use a controller with Turbo capabilities, Button Mapping capabilities, or Wireless capabilities, and they may not use a Play and Charge Kit.

I think the big concern that MLG mentioned was that the Onza design will make it really easy to mod the buttons for Rapid fire and Macros, and near impossible to detect if people started bringing them into tournaments.

I don't know whether or not they're right, and it doesn't really bother me tbh. I just know that they told Razer long before release that if they didn't make a version without the buttons they'd have to declare it illegal it.
