Razer Onza

Fair enough about not being able to detect those who exploit the controller, I guess that the standard edition (which I think is not button mapable) would be okay. I found this statement below a good response on overclockers.net

The funny thing about the situation is that MLG is banning Razer's competitive controller, as to there rules of "Mapping Buttons"; while they are working with MadCatz to produce a MLG controller, when they have a 'rule' banning any MadCatz controllers at tournaments in place.

I think both versions have the mappable buttons, they've both got it mentioned on the Razer site at least.

I don't know about this whether or not MLG pulled a fast one to try to get the Razer banned delibrately and push their forthcoming MadCatz pad, either way. I suspect a lot of posts claiming such things are just backlash from the onza being banned though.

I know that they told Razer to remove the buttons or the pad would be illegal, Razer didn't, MLG declared the pad illegal.

It doesn't bother me either way as I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be playing in MLG any time soon. I'd get one in an instant if there was a wireless version.

Has anyone recieved there's yet? The Razer site is about as useful as a chocolate teapot for info and the play date keeps changing.

If you have got yours, what are you initial opinion on it?

Tried one yesterday at The Gadget Show Live. I was impressed, thought it was very comfortable. My one problem during the couple of minutes I used it, I kept pressing the wrong position for Start and Back :p You'd get used to that though after a short period of time.

Controller looked very nice, D-Pad was better than the official Xbox controller.

Tempted by this as I keep wearing the nipples off the sticks (ooh-er missus). My current pad is pretty much down to bare plastic under the matte coating.

Will wait to see how people get on with theirs and see how hardy they are.

There's nothing that I enjoy enough (competitively) to warrant me getting a new controller. If we was in the days of the original Xbox I'd be tempted though. (if they are actually any good)

Did buy a new Razer mouse for CSS mind you. :D I don't see the skill in CoD games due to latency and aim assist on peer2peer/consoles. Killcam highlights how broken they are.

Cheers Chris, sounds promising thus far.

I'm the same as anticonscience I just want a pad to replace my abused original pad, poor thing has been through many a gaming related rage. The fact that Razer have such a reputation for peripherals led me to be quite curious by their offering as all other 3rd party pads i've tried have been horrorific <i'm looking at you mad catz>

Every time I see this or the other topic bumped I expect to see that someone has theirs. What happened to the guy that had his DHL shipping notification?

I want to see one taken apart too to see what you get for the money.

I've had mine preordered for about 2 months now, its status only changed to shipped 2 days ago, so hopefully it'll arrive by the end of this month

I heard you can't press the thumbstick unless it's in a neutral position, that's a major fail right there. My friend had to map sprint to the mappable button...

The Best Buys here in the States have started stocking them. Walked in at lunch and picked up the last one!

Been playing with it for about a week now and this is my single biggest complaint. I can push the right stick down from any position, but the left stick has this issue. If the stick is pushed more than 75% of the way towards the outer edge, it becomes impossible to press down. Only when it's close to the center can I press it down, which is taking some getting used to.

I've mapped the left stick click to the extra left bumper for now. If it wasn't for this one problem, I'd be in love with the controller. It is a pretty big issue though so I'm still considering returning it.

edit: at work now but I can do a full review later tonight
