Re-housing a freebie system into a smaller case

Thanks to paulstoke12 and flame696 for your comments. I appreciate it. Especially when I see some of the other builds on here.
I really enjoyed getting into the whole watercooled thing though. Just hope it doesn't snowball into something too expensive in the future, as these things seem to do! Won't always be able to rely on generous mates. :p

The way I see it is if it plays the games and your happy no need to upgrade I've be there done that been at overclockers built a rig sold it and started again my next rig im sticking to

Minor update.

Previously mentioned friend was flogging an R9 290x complete with waterblock and top plate so I couldn't say no.

Looks a little tidier and I've seen a big jump in 3DMark Firestrike from 4968 to 10,004 (although I'm not a benchmark chaser - honest!).

More importantly I'm just happy to report that everything is still running great. CPU sits at 4.0ghz all day and keeps cool and quiet (cores still in the forties after heavy gaming). So can I just say thanks once again to all those that offered help and advice.

Latest Update

My friendly donor bought an ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer Motherboard and then decided it was the wrong colour! "Do you want it?" he said, complete with 16GB of DDR4. "You'll just need to buy a 2011-v3 CPU". Well, it'd be rude to say no, wouldn't it?!

So then I was torn between getting a 5820k now or hanging out until Broadwell-e lands in 2016 Q2 (ish). The common advice was to just buy the 5820k now then wait until Broadwell-e becomes available and see what the benefits are first. Then, if you so desire, flog the 5820k and upgrade.
Whilst I was making my mind up, Amazon dropped the price of the 5830k to £347 in a lightning deal, so I nabbed one of those.

Now I know that the 5830K offers me no real benefit, in my single card system, over the 5820k but if I do decide to sell in the future, I feel that I'll get more of my money back on this chip because a lot of people out there really want the 40 lanes for multi card set ups. Who knows if this was the right choice though, only time will tell I suppose.

Anyway, thought you guys would appreciate an update.

You have one generous friend with way too much money for his own good apparently. :P

Looks very nice though. Bet your chuffed! I really like your front rad.

Why don't you buy some red dye and colour the coolant? It'll make the res look so much nicer. I've got X1 blood red in mine myself and I think it looks great.

Your system looks great, I suppose I'm just being shallow but I prefer the new shade of red over the old Asus board :) I'm impressed at what you've got crammed into your case though as it must have been pretty tight to fit a CPU/GPU loop with a res/pump and two radiaotrs in a Define case with a optical drive and a HDD without making it look crampt.

Also your friend is awesome :D
