Reading 2010

Just got mine yesterday. Now need to know if it's going to be raining :), wellies or not
Obviously it will lol. I'm staying well away from Reading and not going with my mum if she decides to go to Tesco while its on!

I was like Cartman when hippies were in South Park...

Not long now :). First time this year - does anyone know what the policy is? Looking at the site and it says "no alcohol allowed into the arena entrance" - does this mean you have to pay through the nose for all your ale until you are sufficiently tanked? :(

Yes, or just drink your own in the campsite.

Or hip flask it, like the pros.

EDIT: Also, my normal ticket has shown up, but not my early entry. :/ Giving the place I got it from a ring now.

I have my early entrance, but not my ticket so I can turn on Wednesday and get turned away. Hurrah! Cutting it a bit fine given that I ordered on 1st September 2009....

Anyone got any good ways of getting drink into the main arena? As I am a very poor boy

Hip flask, pop the whole lid assembly off a water bottle refill and put back, camelbak under your top may look very strange though.
Or just pay the beer prices because it means you may have the pleasure of being served by me :p

Hip flask is the only likely way to get away with it. I always see random people with cans inside the arena and wish I knew how they got away with it, as it's usually sheer luck whether a bag will make it through unchecked.

Sonisphere was so laid back for that. All they cared was that it wasn't in a can. We had tons of bottles blatently full of booze that they let us take in. But at somewhere like Leeds, they'll take it off you if its clearly not water.

Anyone know anyone whos after two reading weekend tickets.

Want mine gone , cant making going on holiday instead.

Only want £360 for two

You need a Beer Belly stealth beverage system. Shame it doesn't come cheap. The Bra version is half the price if you need to economise :p

Do they still do that 10p rebate for each empty you take to the bar? If you don't mind abuse from other festival goers while collecting you could drink for free :)

My earlybird pass is going to come in real handy at Reading this evening  :o

I've managed to sneak in drink in the past to both Reading and Leeds. A few tricks that have worked:

1) Baggy Jeans + Hoody = Cans around waist, in hood itself, deep pockets.

2) The mrs brings her bag along. Packs all the drink at the bottom and then packs all the heavy stuff and bulky stuff in the top. Poncho's, blanket, etc, etc. Hell even whack a box of tampons in there and no male will dig deeper.

Always pack the booze at the bottom of the bag, sometimes they only search the top. Pad it with stuff.

Also, if you pack a big bag make sure all the goods are covered and then maybe leave 1 can at the top and when they take it tell them that's all there is and you didn't realise you couldn't take it in. It's a sacrificial can but could be worth it to allow 5-10 more inside.

Other than that just be original and it's possible to get away with it. Not on a super large scale tho.
