Reading ide drive from RAID

Hi guys!

Problem with my friends dead laptop Hard drive. In his BIOS, the drive mode is set to IDE. We've just built him a new PC and the drive is set to AHCI mode in the BIOS for that.

He needs to get the files from the old drive onto the new drive but when we plug them both in (using SATA cables) the laptop drive isn't visible in 'My Computer'. Both drives are visible in the device manager.

Does anyone have a way to make this drive visible or get the files from it somehow?

Thanks for the info!

Unfortunately the drive is recognised as unallocated space so that method won't work. The only options I have on right click are:
- New simple volume (Which I'm pretty sure would overwrite the data)
- Properties
- Help
