Howzit guys.

I was wondering whether it's worth getting a Readyboost memory stick. I can get a 4GB one as well. Just is it worth it for it. Does it speed the system up that much?

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate on a C2D clocked to 2.8Ghz (E4400) and 2GB DDR 2 667 memory.

Would it help in games? or only for Windows?

Thanks all!! :D

Made sod all difference when I had 2GB on x32, so I disabled the bugger as I rarely use USB sticks anyway. Got 4GB of ram now so I can't see much of a point.

On my XPS 1530 laptop though I have a 4GB SD card permanently in for RB. Can't tell the difference though upon launching apps.

How effective readyboost is depends largely on how often you switch your pc off. Readyboost's main feature is that it preserves your superfetch data, not that it specifcally adds extra ram. So if you switch off every night, then readyboost should give a difference in response times. If you never/rarely turn off and therefore have superfetch working at it's best already (or for some bizarre reason if you've switched superfetch off) you'll not notice any real benefits.

Well, I switch my PC off every night. I've been using a friend's readyboost and every thing seems to load instantly. :)

Not too sure if it's worth 200 bucks though..

Yeah save money get more ram, more ram has a big improvement RB is pretty poor really, i bought a drive and used it when i had 1Gb but it made sod all difference really, ended up just using it to move files et al.. Made much more sense. I've got 4Gb now and THAT made on HELL of a difference :)

Well this 4GB drive is what I am using for RB it has sped the whole system up. Just not too sure if it's worth it lol.

Thanks for the all help guys!

They only help systems with low memory. If you have > 1gb I doubt if you will see a difference
This is wrong.

It helps when you have a slow drive speed, such as on a laptop. It is a disk cache, not a memory extender.

If you have a 7,200rpm hard drive, you won't notice anything.

No, it is in fact very very good, you're probably just mistaking what it is meant to do: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5902090796342771727

Simply not true. Tried it on a PC with low memory and a 7,200RPM drive. The difference was amazing!::eek:
