Real Lifesis (Crysis mod)

Any mod that increases the performance has to be cutting corners to be honest. I always say in this kind of thread I've yet to see one I prefer over the default game.

This is true, however the lifesis mod looks a damn site better than the standard high thats available on XP and also has better performance.

How do you uninstall this to go back to default, i have tried changing the cvars around and moving the autoexec out but it doesnt change. Does this mod modify thr levels data? I would like to Fraps the default high and this mod to double check. (so far i just remembered how high looked and ran)

lol ^^.

Wonder how much years it'll take more till we get graphics like in real life.
10? 20 ?

edit: Oh, to the guys who are wondering: that pic, definitely not a game :D. At least I'm pretty sure it's real.

I reckon in 20 years time we will have stuff that looks pretty close to that. Cryengine 3 or 4 perhaps.

20 years? More like 5 years if you ask me  Just think how far we've come since COD1 in 2003. We only have a little more to do to achieve realism.

hm true. For it to LOOK life like it could only be 5 years. I think for the world and AI to react a lot more realistically it could be more like 20 years.

think my dx10 shots are best shots in this thread up to yet, someone need to go to places where they've put more effort into surroundings

i cant as i havent got any saves anymore

Actually, a benefit of the vastly reduced depth of field effect is that you can be far more liberal with toning down the graphics settings for objects and terrain in the distance (seeing as its blurred out), thus giving the potental for massive gains in FPS. Don't be so quick to dismiss this mod. It might be a cheap graphical trick but it looks nice and has its uses.

Absolutely. But where they got the name from is beyond me! Unless we all now run around with Desaturated overlay layer specticals (*Only photoshop users are likely to understand that one)

Graphics wise yes. However realistic physics will take many more years.

I want to see a whole game sort of carved out of a giant mould. Everything should be distructable - the floor should makes holes with bombs, grenades, building should realistically collapse, bullet holes in everything with light shining through, rocks and mountains should be able to break away and fall, houses where walls ceilings and floors can be broken through but also collapse in certain areas. If someone goes into a house in a multiplayer game and someone else throws a grenade into it, it should blow the door and windows out injuring people as in real life. If an explosive charge is placed the whole thing should have in.

Not too bothered about having stupidly bright HDR and bump mapping like some games do, the harder things will be realistic physics

In other words I will be happy when i see a highly advanced 'geo-mod' that was first used in red faction. This probably wont happen for another 10 years at least

Is it just me or are the ragdoll physics slightly different? I just shot someone in the noggin' and their head snapped right back. Looked awesome. I'm sure it never used too.

I've got some lovely screenshots that I use for wallpapers like that ^ taken from FarCry 2 - I'll post one or 2 up. Missing the close up duck details, but still.

One day we'll get to almost real graphics.... and still complain about the FPS :p

However note the FPS in the screenshots with the depth of field at 2 and then 1. The final FPS is without the mod

I get 25 fps avg in XP at Ultra High on a 8800 GTS. Better quality than those settings.

It's interesting that they don't show the mountains because they look bad with those settings, they won't get them looking like this...

Instead they will look like DX10 Very High like this -

I'm glad they opted for a different approach to editing cvar groups in the game. Changing the way the game responds to settings is not the preferred method so props to them on that. '

I get 40fps Very High DX10 1920x1200 on an unmodded game. It's all about the graphics firepower.

I was way down on the benchmarks though, there were some people pulling insane FPS at those settings when the Crysis benchmark thread was all the rage.

when next gen gpu will arrive end of this yea crysis will be game of the past , something else will take over probably doom 4.

it always happens

What we need is some kind of eye-tracking hardware/software that'll automatically adjust the depth of field effect to bring whatever you're looking at into focus. That would be too cool
