Real Madrid v Barcelona Sat 10th

I bet Ronaldo is kicking himself, he wanted to join Real Madrid because that's where all the Spanish cup glory is, turns out he should've gone down the road from them instead.

I enjoyed that.

The skill and vision of the Barca players is just immense at times.

Real certainly weren't "bad" tonight, they looked good in patches but Barca rarely stepped out of first gear, they looked comfortable all game.

Messi, Xavi were just amazing, it's like they know what each other think.

I can't believe the ref didn't send any Real players off. Ramos was already on a yellow and then kicked Messi and barged Puyol, there's no way he should have been on the pitch at the end. Garay was pretty lucky to stay on as well! Still, glad that Barca won :)

Xavi is incredible him and Iniesta are just stunning mid fielders, Spain have a huge advantage with these two playing week in week out together no wonder they do so well!

Didn't think it was a very good game to be honest. Barca didn't look that pressured and for most of the game didn't create much. I think when they went 2-0 up they'd had 2 shots on target to reals 7? Not that real ever looked like winning.

Ronaldo looks the shadow of the player that was ripping Premier League defences apart on a weekly basis :(

Nice to Messi missing some relative sitters proving he's not god after all :p

Yeah, he still played OK, but wasn't really getting anything from Real to be fair. Good saves by Casillas on Messi though.

Not a classic match but solid performance from Barca.

Real have a lot of work to do to be a great team and feel they still lack something when it comes to the big games.

Although they have had decent results over the last couple of weeks especially the Madrid derby they still lack something as a team.

Still think it could be a tight finish to the season but it now all depends on the remaining games and how Real bounce back from this defeat.

It really is now in Barca's hands to lose rather than Real's to win.

AWful game in terms of quality, Barca created very little and their goals came from woeful defending and almost long ball football. There was very little classic football by Barca, even less from Real and a massive amount of diving, mostly from Barca. Pedro went down for a tap in the back, spent as long as possible down, jumped up when finally asked to move off the pitch and ran back on. ALves threw himself to the ground every, well, maybe 8 seconds, he put Ronaldo to shame in terms of biggest diver of the year award.

Messi scored one, missed a couple he should have scored and really didn't do much unless put well beyond the defence. Xavi's passing was as per usual, amazing, without him Messi and Barca would have had nothing/very little.

Real were dissappointing, just because they started a very very poor team again. Gago, Xabi, VDV and Marcelo were appauling, the thing is they've all been appauling all year. Marcelo thinks he's Messi, except he can't cross, shoot or pass, he runs ok on the ball till asked to make a decision then he makes the wrong one, and executes it badly. 3-4 times a decent simple pass from him would have put HIguan/Ronnie through for a tap in. Guti showed in about 1 minute how much better he was with two superb passes, maybe the two best in the game. Lass for Xabi, Guti for VDV, Benzema maybe for Marcelo and they could have had a chance, they had some half decent sustained pressure but were too far behind by then.

Shame as the quality of play was pretty poor, VDV after that Guti pass, had he made it 2-1 we might have seen a good final 20 mins, but wasn't to be. Why they ditched Snjeider and not VDV I don't know, turd manager. Real need some fullbacks, badly, very very badly. But then its a tough ask to have a very new team beat a long term established one.

Ronaldo/Higuan needed the pass VDV/Messi got, in behind and a chance on goal, the difference was Barca had those passes from Xavi throughout, Real had Guti for 25 mins, and the best one fell to the wrong player.

Pedro, Keita, Alves, Maxwell, Busquets, they really don't do it for me, yes Pedro scored a pretty simple chance, but created very little on his own and was fairly useless, Alves just flops, Maxwell isn't great going forwards or defensively.

THe problem is, Gago, VDV, Marcelo, Arbeloa, Ramos, are generally not very good, Kaka, Benzema and Xabi have all been total flops and with that team out tonight theres no one playing in Ronaldo/Higuan with the delivery they need.

aye what planet is drunkenmaster from lol

I didnt watch all the game but I see the goals and im pretty sure Xavi's pass to Messi was messi running right through the defense and a sublime pass over the top of the defense for him to run on it, was a stunning pass.

Same goes for Pedros goal, great pass cut the defense in 2 and Pedro runs in on it.

Xavi is a player maker, the creativity in the team the one who sets up goals and does the passes no one else sees or is able to make and he did it and made it count.

Seems to me in drunkenmaster's eyes any goal scored is not because the goalscorer has done well but it is always down to poor defending. Unless its Eboue or Bendtner that scored. :p

Very very competitive game it was fast and furious no one team was better. The difference for me was when Ronaldo gets fouled he stays down and whines. But when Messi gets fouled he gets up and gets on with the game. That was where the first goal came from. The man is unstoppable.

Ronaldo was not 100% even so didn't play well he was average at best.

I look forward to Barca vs Inter will see how the Special one will try stop the special one.
