Realistically can I become a good dancer from playing kinect games?

lol I wanna see the OP dancing in a club/bar like the Star Wars dance video. I'm wet myself with laughter if I saw somebody in the real world dancing like that on a night out

I'd argue that dancing like a plum with your mates whilst looking like you are enjoying yourself will work far better attracting the ladies than dancing like you are some sort of pro who didnt make the grade..

first of all it's a myth women like good dancers. Women like cash and confidence. Good dancers are basically showing their confidence in their dancing ability.

This is something a game will never be able to do for you. Because your dancing in private. Everyone is confident at doing stuff in private. Stick them on a stage with 100 or 100,000 people watching not so much.

Also dancing is mainly about having rhythm. A game won't teach you rhythm but a routine which is all about timing. Timing something is robotic the complete opposite of rhythm. Think of timing as bang on digital, binary, 0's and 1's. Rhythm is analogue, free flowing much like music.

So no a game won't help at all. i twill help you with timing but not with rhythm. Rhythm comes from inside you and can't be taught.

Currently arranging super fight with Anthony Joshua. Showed him my wii boxing record and hes confirmed its on.

That reminds me that many years ago my nephews bought their game machine to mine and played Guitar Hero.
They were pressing buttons on a plastic guitar to a song I knew how to play so I got my guitar out and played it for real.
They looked at me as though I was mad.

Maybe you had failed to mention to them that you were in a band and played guitar?

this seems a bit pretentious and rather nonsensical, as far as I was aware rhythm is a word used to describe the timing of music, dance moves etc.. they're pretty interchangeable in the way most people would use them

but you seem to want to make a distinction between them while not actually being able to specify what that distinction as though 'rhythm' has some ethereal quality

i think the best way to describe it would be if you were to watch a group of dancers who have practiced a routine. you can literally see them counting the steps in their head as they go through the routine. whereas a freestyle dancer is going with the flow / rhythm. rather than someone who has practiced a routine and is simply going 1,2,3,4,5,6, etc.

  Some nice summarising there of 50% of our population!

go into the most expensive bars and restaurants.

i'm talking places where it's £100+ just to sit down never mind order something.

i doubt you will find many guys in there with someone who looks like jabba the hut. rather someone with model figure and at least 9/10 looks.

the only people who don't think like this are nerds, losers and those without money.

To be honest, if you were courting someone who looks like Jabba the Hut you would probably opt for an all you can eat buffet, save yourself the money and everyone can be happier :p

That said, I totally disagree with the dance statement. Smooth moves aren't vital to anything but a bit of finesse on the dance-floor certainly works better than a confident guy who has the grace of an ox on ice. That said, if you can't dance, you can always learn to be funny and capitalise on the bad dancing!

And even if you became incredible from all of your 'training' on any game, women are not going to be queuing up to dance with you.
Depends where you are and what kind of dancing you're good at.
Night club, throwing shapes and laying down the moves like Jagger, not so much. You're dancing for yourself, there.
Lindy Hop or Swing sort of stuff, in a place where they have the music that goes with it, you're doing dances that are all about making the woman look good and so long as they have some basic skill you can whirl most of them around well enough that they really will be lining up to dance with you - Case in point, all those American GIs able to 'show a girl a good time' with their strange, imported dance moves even if the girl had never done Lindy before.

However, as others have suggested, dancing with you is about all they'll be interested in, unless you can offer all the other stuff once the music has ended.

********.
I'm a drummer. Pretty good drummer, given that I used to earn a decent living from it.
I have rhythm, timing, feel and everything you'd want... but the physical aptitude for dancing completely eludes me and often goes against the rhythms I'd heed when drumming. Totally different moves and pretty lop-sided, more often than not. Conversely, military drill is nigh on the same thing as dancing and quite obviously something that can be taught.
