Really annoying problem.

Hi,I am being driven crazy by something i cant figure out, i'll start at the beginning.
When Ryzen first came out i bought a bundle(i know big mistake)from scan it was a Ryzen 5 1600 some Corsair 2400 memory, an Asus 350 plus motherboard the hard drive was an old one i had, 2 gig i think and i cant even remember what graphics card it was, it was old but serviceable any way, i got it up and running but the motherboard was horrible. I replaced the graphics card with a GTX 980TI and everything was fine for a while until the motherboard started acting up and i got so P***ed of with it that i flung it out and bought an Aorus GA-AX370-Gaming 5 refurbed(2nd mistake i think) anyway because of circumstances it got shelved and i have been using my old windows 7 computer for months and months now.
Yesterday i decided to get to grips with the Ryzen as i had just bought a 500 gig samsung evo SSD, so i assembled everything with a Seasonic PSU that i had, i also got a NZXT water cooler for the CPU, everything went together quite nicely until i fired it up and it took 5 or 6 attempts to get it into the BIOS, so i updated the BIOS. I did it in a couple of stages because it went from 9 to 27 and that went better than i expected, I mention this because the BIOS updates were done using a USB stick as you do.
I have just spent all frigging night trying to get windows 10 installed to no avail. I first tried a USB flash drive which i put windows on with rufus. Nothing, it just froze with the blue windows logo, i tried different flash drives, same result, so i dug out my samsung dvd player and the most i got with that was 5 spots on the windows circle. I don't understand whats happening, the USB flash drives worked OK to update the BIOS, I checked in the BIOS and the CPU is running fine and the temperature is great(29c) the ram is showing fine as working at the right speed and capacity and the samsung SSD is appearing in the BIOS as it should, the graphics card is obviously working or i wouldn't be able to see anything in the BIOS. It seems to me that there is something wrong with the USB ports, but that doesn't make sense as it updated the BIOS no problem. I have tried the trick of using only one stick of ram but that's not the problem. I think i have to face it, I think the motherboard is faulty and i will have to get another one but i am hoping some one in this forum knows whats happening or at least has a suggestion to try as i am brassic at the moment and not looking forwards to the expense, and what if it isn't the motherboard!

I think what your trying to say is your having problems installing windows 10 , just wondering if it could be a problem with your hard drive , did your partition and format it?

I bought a ryzen bundle.
Ryzen 5 1600
Corsair 2400
Asus 350 motherboard

I reused an old HD and graphics card.
I had issues.
Swapped the graphics card for a 980Ti.
I had issues.
Swapped the motherboard for an Auros GA-AX370-Gaming 5 [refurbished].
I had issues.

Swapped the HD for a Samsung 500GB EVO
Swapped the PSU for a Seasonic
I had issues getting into the BIOS.
Updated with a USB stick.

I can't get Windows 10 to install.
I used rufus to make a USB stick. It didn't work.
I used a DVD. It didnt work.

I think there is something wrong with the USB ports.

As for suggestions, I would

drop all the memory timings to stock (as in, the timings from the manufacturer, not leaving the motherboard on Auto setting)
remove any overclock on the CPU
create the USB stick with the official Windows USB media creation tool

Thanks! My excuse for unintelligible Post is, I was knackered and frustrated after being up all night.
Will try memory timings.
CPU is stock.
will create USB flash with windows tool and try that.
Why did DVD not work? Both USB Flash and DVD work on other computer.

Couldnt say. If the USB or DVD arent working, do they need some updated drivers as part of the ISO build?
I don't have a Ryzen setup, so no idea if there have been issues with drivers during installation, hopefully someone who does will be along to help.

Not sure if i am understanding the "9 to 27" bit. Looking at the bios download page it starts at F3 and goes to F23f.

Are you sure you got the correct bios?

Can the BIOS see the hard drive?

Hi, yes the BIOS is seeing the hard drive, memory and CPU and is reporting all correctly. To be honest i think its either the memory or the motherboard and the moby is favorite. Problem is i can only test by substitution and i cant afford much at the mo.

Are you in a position to download and try installing Ubuntu? (It’s free)

Just as a test but it will rule out software issue with Windows.

Had a quick search online for the problem you are having.

A couple of solutions i came across are setting the RAM to 1.35v regardless of speed/timings. The other is enabling "Secure Boot" in bios.

Also, i think you should have got faster RAM. I believe 3000mhz or 3200mhz is recommended for Ryzen.

Hi freddie64, The ram came in a bundle from scan and at the time it couldn't see over 2400mhz. i have had it all running in another motherboard but i upgraded the motherboard as it developed a problem. Ram is already running at 1.35v and default ram timing is same as on the ram itself. Doesn't seem to be a secure boot in the Gigabyte BIOS.

Did what you suggested when run the opening menu comes up on screen. I tried install and it blank screened which i interpreted as crashing , tried run without install , same result, tried verify download, same result, if i don't do anything the screen just goes blank after about 30 seconds.

I have had enough!! so i have ordered a new motherboard from Amazon its a MSI b350 tomahawk. If it doesn't work i will know its not the motherboard, and as its from Amazon i will return it. But i am 51% sure its the moby.

Ok got a new Motherboard and same problem i get the blue windows install screen and thats all, thats both with USB flash drive and DVD, I know its not the USB drive because i used it to reinstall windows on my other computer to eliminate it . So the question now is what can it be? if the ram has gone kaput will that cause those symptoms? PSU? not likely its almost new. HHHEEELLLPPP

Just a quick question, you do have the ram in the correct slots ? The correct slots would be the 2nd and 4th from the CPU, not the 1st and 3rd, very common mistake, but causes all sorts of problems.

Failing that, download passmark memtest 86, on your other pc, create a bootable cd or USB stick and then run that through your Ryzen machine overnight, no need for windows to be installed, sounds ram related to me, and if it's been like it since day 1, it's possible you received a faulty kit of ram.

Yes they are in the 2nd and 4th from CPU, it was one of the things i double checked, I had the ryzen computer working until i changed motherboards(unfortunately i threw it out) which was why i was certain it was the motherboard.

i have downloaded memtest86 do i use rufus to get it on the flash drive or do i just extract it and put it straight onto the flash drive?cancel that it includes its own prog to install it to the stick.
