Really lost/E6750 + Asrock

Heres my new temp idel at 3.2, I feel like such a tit

NewIdel3.2.jpg

So gonna run a few more tests and i'll let you know how I get on:)

The guy in the shop told me it was an AC Freezer 7 pro....bummer. As for the room Im in, I live in a 1 bedroom flat and this room is like a green house, really really hot in the summer and freezing in the winter, its boiling in here now, I'm just sitting here with shorts and a t-shirt.......lol:)

I done another quick stress test, I know it was only for 1min 24 sec but last time it shot up to 125C in the first 15sec's so something going right.

I have the Memory timming setting locked off now, would I need to unlock them again when tuning it up more if I want too now? As I'm gonna have a go at bringing it up more tomorrow now I know what the problem was, or will I just keep them locked?

I think the cost off delivery would be worth it, at least I would know what I'm getting, so think it would be worth it in the end.
I'll call it a night, been at it since I got the new board and been working in the evening for the past few night so pretty wrecked.
Just downloaded Episode 11 off The 4400 and gonna put the feet up and hit the hay.

Thank a lot everybody, you have all been brilliant with the efforts you have put in and going out off your way to help me.
A GREAT BIG THANKS!!!!

I'll get another go at it tomorrow and keep you updated on how I get on and shout in if I need more help.

Thanks again guys, well pleased now and a bit more educated:)

good to see you;re getting there :D

any chance you can reseat the cooler so the fan pushes case air over the cooler itself and out through the rear fan ?

had a quick look and it looks like a coolermaster Hyper TX Intel, fan details show as 92mm fan, 22dba and 41cfm, although they can be taken with a pinch of salt doesnt look too bad.

Thank mate, really glad I'm getting there.

Not to sure what you mean mate. I thought turning the cooler around facing the back fan would be better, as the cooler fan sucks the air away from the Heatsink rather than blow air on it, so as it sits now, the cooler fan is sucking the air away from the cooler and the large fan beside it is sucking the air from that straight out the back off the case.
If I have it round the other way then is the heat sink fan not blowing hot air all over the case?

So do you think its better to have it the way I had it originally?

I've had the computer on all night and been doing a bit off messing around this morning Encoding a movie and temps seems ok

If you think its better to turn it around I'll do it no problem, maybe I'm just picking you up wrong mate:)

No worries mate:)

Heres were I am so far.

3.61.jpg

I'll keep at it, just bring it up to the 3.6 if I can and then run the tests and if unstable just up the volts, or up the volts on the way, isn't that the way to do it?
So just keep an eye on the temps, I think idel around 40C and Load around 60C?

What would be the critical temp for this chip so I know to drop down again? Dont what to shoot up to 125C(?) again, that one scared the crap outta me, although it was my fault for being a tit and keeping the centre peice off plastic on, man I'll never live that one down.....lol:)

Got it up to the 3.6 so gonna run a few tests now, starting to have a bit more convidence now:)

Just wonder, what would be the best setting to test with Orthos?

I did a test on 3.6Ghz but it started flashing red, so I take that as a fail, plus temps were up to 69C, so if I up the volts it might pass the test but temps will be even higher.

I dropped down to 3.5GHz and ran a test and seems ok, I know I only ran it for 7min 33 seconds, but temps didnt go over 64C.

So what do you think I should do mate?

I think its probably because I dont have the best memory in the world:)

I've been running tests for about 4 hours now on and off, but sometimes the computer just shuts down and reboots. Is this normal or would it be my PSU is too weak?

Ttried using 3.6GHz and 3.5GHz but temps where going up to 71C and stable but I'm sure you guys would be thinking thats to high.

So Gonna test now at 3.4GHz @ 1.35000v as after 20mins on lower volts it reboot.

I would be happy with 3.4GHz if I can get it right, I dont do gaming, I dont play games at all, I just rip DVD's, use ConvertXtoDVD and Nero. The rest is just Downloading and browsing.
Just like to have folders opening quick and maybe browse the net while I'm burning a DVD or Encoding:)

Heres what I got so far.

Setting are 3.4GHz @ 1.35000 volts, Max temp went to 67C. So what do you think guys, would that be ok?
I'm gonna run it over night just to make sure.
Just wondered why when I'm running @ 3.5GHz & 3.6GHz the temps go to 71C which is only a 4C difference and a whole lot quicker. I know the volts are higher but would it still be safe enough to run as I dont do gaming?

I'd be lost without ya's guys:)

Ok Guys,

After a bit off time and effort, I fitted another 120mm Fan on the side off the case, wasn't built to fit but I drilled a few holes and attached it to keep the temps down.
Then I ****** about with voltage and kept becoming unstable after 2 hours, so up 2 each time.
So finally at 1802(3.6GHz) @ 1.4687 Volts we got stable, an man I'm glad its sorted.

Heres the computer sitting Idle just after the test:

And heres the final result:

Seeing as I skipped a Volt setting I'll drop down one tonight before going to bed and see if it runs stable at the lower setting maybe bringing the Temps down a bit more, as for now I'm over the moon.
I couldnt have done it without you guys also a special thanks for WJA96 for taking the time putting up the setting that saved my life.

So I'm more confident now, thats it......I'm an addict, God knows where it will end now.........lol:)

Thanks again guys & thanks Overclockers for a No1 Forum.

P.S. Checked the log and Temp never went over 67C.

Yeah, well Pleased mate. I've actually brought the speed back down to 3.4GHz as thats plenty for what I use the System for, temp actually went up to 35/33 Idle, but as I say, the heat here is unbearable, I even have all windows open and still toasted:)
Maybe in the winter I'll stick it back up to 3.6. As mentioned, by then the compound will have set in.
Thanks again for your help man, I'd have been seriously lost without you and all the guys on the forum. May you all live too 100......lol:)

P.s. No offence taken about the ram, I'll get around to upgrading it sometime, always knew it was a bit crap:D
