Hi guys.

So for an upgrade I bought 2 second hand pre-watercooled 7970's and the rest of a loop.

I installed it all last week and since then have been struggling with ALL sorts of issues.

Right now my PC will not boot with either card and I get the debug code b2 (or 62) from my Gigabyte motherboard.

I'm 95% sure this is a gpu error, however now I cannot even get my Pc to boot with integrated graphics.

I'm really stuck what to do as I don't want to rip my wc apart and go through the hassle of returns and I'd rather fix the problem and just have my rig working again.

Any help would be appreciated and I can provide more info if needed

posting full spec will help people. ie psu etc. best place to start. clear cmos. take batter out for 20mins and put back in then reboot

What psu do you have?

have you tried booting with just one GPU in?

and you said your 95% sure its a GPU error? what does the manual say for that code.

what is b2 or 62 error code in the manual?

and how long did you clear cmos for? I would leave out the cmos battery a good 30 minutes and try

try with igpu and flash to the latest bios, also try second bios positions on the gpu's

latest beta for the motherboard is

GA-Z77X-UP7 - F7a http://www.mediafire.com/?2gm12r3alaqcwt0

if none of the above works, you can try envoking the backup bios to kick in and recover the main bios to do this turn on pc at front panel power button and as soon as you see/hear the fans start to spin switch off as fast as possible at the rear psu switch,do this three or four times then let pc bootup normally

I'm 95% sure this is a gpu error, however now I cannot even get my Pc to boot with integrated graphics.

Have you removed the 7970s before trying the integrated graphics?

Also is a 750 watt PSU enough to run all of your new kit? Never ran crossfire or a water cooled rig before, but imagined it would need a bigger PSU.

Try taking the PCI-E power cables out for one GPU at least, that should stop it powering up if you can't take it out altogether

I would have thought 750W would be a bit tight for Xfire 7970s and watercooling etc, but it's probably not under load at boot anyway so that's no reason for it not to boot

Pretty sure my 750W isn't the issue.

And I removed power cables for both gpus and tried to boot on iGPU and then that started having issues.

FYI: I flashed both GPU bios with (what I think) are the correct ones and no avail

What I assume is that I have flashed incorrect BIOS's to the GPU's.

I can try other BIOS's but I'm 95% sure they are correct.

Maybe I'm flashing them wrong??

You may have to physically remove the cards to enable onboard GPU.

The remark about the PSU was more a question for myself not a diagnosis. Sorry for the confusion.

Had the iGPU working long enough to flash both 7970's but I fear I may be using the wrong BIOS's.

They're not matched cards but I've used the clock speeds, a box and all the info I can find from the original listing (when I bought them) to narrow it down

iGPU works fine in safe mode but not normal boot which makes me think the ati drivers are trying to take over?

Gonna try with both cards fully removed

what make model cards are they?

and did you try envoking the motherboards back up bios?

there shouldn't be this much trouble with it imo

ahh ok

and what bios are you or have you flashed the cards with?

both should work fine, havn't come across any issues

did you try the other bios switch position on each of the cards? it should be a small switch near the xfire bridge i think
