Really struggling to get my build working?!

Hi guys, ok so I’ve built numerous computers but really struggling here.

I’ve moved my pc from one case into a new one. Added a new waterblock over the mb/cpu. Added a waterblock to a 3090.

Ok so what happens is I turn on the computer, its lights come on, fans start up, RAM lights up, however nothing comes on the monitor.

So I removed the GPU expecting that to be the problem, however the same problem occurs with two different GPUs. I removed all the fans still nothing happens. I’ve refitted the CPU waterblock.

I don’t really see any point in removing the RAM sticks because I hadn’t touched them. Does anyone know what the problem could be here?

I’m using the x570 aorus elite, with a Ryzen 9.

I haven’t yet reset cmos.

Can you reach the OSD on the monitor (by clicking the buttons on the monitor itself)?
 
Clear cmos just to rule it out.

I would have said perhaps it's sending the signal to integrated graphics but you're on Ryzen so likely don't have integrated graphics.

Tried the display port / hmdi cable in a few different ports on your GPU? Edit: Just saw you tried a couple of cables already.

How certain are you the system has booted? Can you ping the system from another computer on your network?

Have you got a speaker for the motherboard to see if there's any beep codes while it's posting?

Reset cmos and try to boot with just 1 stick or ram and the bare minimum of components. Just cpu, 1 stick of ram , gpu , ssd , make sure no usb other than mouse keyboard are plugged in.

I cannot see the led debug lights on a pic of that mobo, that is really really cheaping out if it doesnt have them.

Question I do have is. Did you remove the cpu from the socket at any point? Did you have to apply a lot of force to get the old cooler off?
What I am wondering is have any of the pins been misaligned or bent our of shape ?

Ok I’ve just cleared the cmos, but nothing has happened :/. I’m using a 5900x which doesn’t have integrated graphics.

I’m not sure if the system is actually booting, I’m only guessing. My idea is if the LEDs on the motherboard are coming on it should be booting up?

I’ve got a speaker however I’m not getting any beep codes. I’ve checked the manual and it doesn’t have any information on beep codes with the x570 aorus elite.

I will never buy a motherboard that doesn’t come with a speaker again xD! Does this sound like my motherboard has died some how?

Checked page 21 of the manual which states:

SPEAK (Speaker): Connects to the speaker on the chassis front panel. The system reports system startup status by issuing a beep code. One single short beep will be heard if no problem is detected at system startup.

So if you have a speaker plugged into the speaker header you should hear a single beep if it posts correctly. No beeps is concerning. Although you're correct there's no chart in the manual that shows all the beep codes... maybe gigabyte uses harmonised codes across their whole range?

You said you've attached a board and CPU block, so I'm assuming you mean one that covers the chipset or is it the VRMs and the CPU? Have you made sure you've not got any metal on metal contact or anything like that?
 
The reason I suggested looking at the OSD is in case your monitor is set to 'Display Port Slot 2' rather than 'Auto' and is only looking for a signal on a port that isn't plugged in.
 
Ok so I just removed 3 Ram sticks from the computer.

Now I’ve only got 1 ram stick GPU and an NVME drive, keyboard and mouse plugged in which aren’t getting any power from the usb, and the DP cable.

You’re right it’s meant to beep, but I don’t think it has ever beeped on startup. Strange!


I think my only options now are to try a new PSU and to remove the water block again and check the pins, these shouldn’t be affected though because I didn’t remove the CPU.

The waterblock I’ve got is the ek-quantum momentum x570 aorus elite, it covers the VRMs on the motherboard. I wish I just purchased a normal cpu block now though haha.

Does this sound like the motherboard has died?

You would have only heard that if you had a speaker plugged into the speaker header on the board, I don't think many boards come with a speaker attached, it used to be a feature of your case's front panel in days gone by.

If you have the speaker now attached to the header try putting the board into an obviously faulty configuration such as removing all ram sticks and booting it, you should definitely get beeps off of that if the board is trying to post IMO.

Have you tried the motherboard outside of a case in case it shorting against your case somehow with the mounting hardware of the block or something like that?
 
As you've not replied to the people saying it,

Are you 100% sure it hasn't defaulted or been accidentally flipped for the monitor to pick up HDMI or something else over the DisplayPort you're not using?

I once had a BIOS update for my motherboard and for some whatever reason when I booted back up it had reset my settings and it took me 3 hours to figure out ... "oh.. I just need to make sure my monitor is on display port not HDMI" xD
 
This will be a nightmare with the watercooling but is it possible to assemble for a boot test outwith the case?
I had something similar in the past where it would not boot in the case but assembled on a cardboard box, It would boot fine.
