Reason why Saints Row and Gameplay made EXTREMELY happy!

i dont think it can be compared to being over paid at work cos yer work just say 'fine it'll come off yer next wages' lol
But at the same time if u get a refund/change in a shop and they give you back £10 too much in cash and you leave the shop, they can't chase after you down the street saying 'give me my money back' if someone done that to me they could be liable for a slap lol
Personally i wouldnt say nothing see if you get away with it, if you do, result, if they ask you for the money back, ach well nothing lost, but have a wee moan and ask for some form of compo for the inconvinience u have suffered lol

Isnt there some law that if someone pays you extra and dont claim it back over a certain amount of time then its considerd a gift ? thought I read that somewhere. Anyway id keep quite about it :)

at the end of the day, if you go down the "keep it road" make sure you have enough cash at all times to repay it, if they choose to ask you for it back

there are some companies that allow you to keep it

eg. NEXT

we ordered a 3 piece from next just before xmas with 25% discount, it came 2 days later after xmas, and the delievery company didnt remove the cellophane, we rang them, the girl said ok we will give you 25% off the price for your troubles, except she is looking at the full price, remember we already got 25% off

in the end we got a 3 piece from next for about 300 quid, the girl got in major trouble, but next honured the price

so good luck :)

Paypal did the exact same thing with me a few weeks back.......They overpaid me by £29.99 into my bank account, not Paypal account and i thought thats a nice little bonus......

Guess what, 4 days later Paypal took their £29.99 back.....So i wouldn't go spending it just yet ;)

You mean when a shop has given you too much change back or under charged you, you have never walked out the store with a wee giggle inside you? Or you have got home checked your recept and you have something they didnt charge you for, you ran straight back to the shop with it and said 'you didnt charge me for this, charge me now' of course everyone has, you've got home and thought ooo they buggered up, oh well too bad.
Its not theft at all. He is under no legal obligation to give it back unless they request it, and even then i honestly dont know where it is legally. For example they can't do anything if he doesnt offer to give it back, if they ask for it and he says no well that might be different. but TBH i think they will just debit the card again to correct themselves.

They have refunded him for the "DEAD RISING LIMITED EDITION" as they had charged him the fee, which was £39.99 at the time. The deal had already been processed, so they have issued a refund of "DEAD RISING LIMITED EDITION" which now has a database price of £49.99.

Sorry what? Am I being dense or did you ring to complain just because you had to take cellophane off your furniture yourself?

* edit - and because of that you managed to get a girl into major trouble? Jesus.

I'm not perfect by any means, but I have gone back to a shop when they have under-charged me or given me too much change. I want to set a good example to my children, and want them growing up knowing right from wrong, not growing up as selfish chavs.

I never said it wasnt wrong, i did say i dont know where it stands legally, and i dont think there are many lawyers in this thread.

But they also refunded him for saints row, which he kept which is where the problem lies lol So where would you stand on the tenner too much and the 50 quid too much lol

The problem i have is with the word theft, as he hasnt stolen anything, they put the money in his bank, it is the responsibility of the person who dont it to get the money back, that is what i am saying.
In my work if we undercharge a customer or screw up a refund, i see it as our responsibility to get the money back.

lol Just what I was thinking...

As for the money, just keep it, who cares.

JUMPURS - I'd like to think that if I dropped my wallet in the street, that somebody would go the effort of handing it in so it can be returned to me.

If someone just picked up the wallet then kept it for themselves, then that is theft. This situation is no different.

The money in his account is not his, so by keeping it, it's theft. What is so hard about that concept to understand?

I would hand the wallet in, but nobody stole it cos you where stupid enough to lose it.
Finding something laying in the street now constitutes theft?? seriously??
So what do you do if you find a fiver in the street? not in a wallet, just a fiver in the street? let me here all the folk saying 'i give it to charity' or do you all take that fiver to the police?
Whole load of keyboard warriors in this thread i think.

no, although i may have worded it incorrectly, we did not complain about that, although the delivery men were supposed to remove the cellophane as part of their job, we rang up because the sofa came late, and the delivery men ditched the chairs outside and we had to carry them in, something that they were supposed to do, and were adverted to do so

If you find a wallet in the street and it contains something which would indicate who the owner is, then to keep the wallet would be theft.

It's different if you find something like a five pound note, because you probably have no way of identifying who the owner is.

You seem to be missing the point, I'm not saying that the OP should or shouldn't hand the money back, I'm saying that the OP knowingly has somebody elses money in his account, and as such, failure to return it is theft.

If you find a wallet in the street you keep the cash and hand the rest in. I would expect the same of anyone who found mine, the cash is the loss for your stupidity/misfortune losing it, but you reward is the reduction in hassle by getting your driving license/credcards/memorabilia etc back.

in the OP's case....keep it, but always expect to have to pay it back if necessary.
