rebuilt forums

forum seems a LOT faster to me

or maybe thats just because its a saturday night :(

Less users is always faster :)

But any speed up you feel is likely to do with several things our host has installed for us and that this new version of vbulletin (with some new hacks for search) is able to take advantage of.

We haven't had to upgrade any hardware yet - just taken some lessons learned from some of the biggest vbulletin forums in the world.

I like it in general, but I would personally change three things given the chance. I'm sure they're already being considered - but here's my two pence worth anyway:

1) The time-stamp and gap above each post is rather annoying.
2) The gap under the signatures looks out of place.
3) The names should be in bold.

That is all :p

Not sure what to think of it yet, but the gap between posts is quite annoying.

I also agree that the timestamp above each post also looks out of place. Also, vB really need to upgrade the graphics of all the buttons and icons as they look extremely dated and ugly these days.

Edit: I do like the edit feature though, and all the Ajax implementation :)

I'm getting used to it.

Things that need fixing/I don't like:

Big gap under signatures.
Gap under username/title and avatar

The MSN/Yahoo/Aim etc icons should perhaps be inline with the online status and report post icons, or at least look neater together, or remove them all together, who needs them.

And the big bar for the datestamp and post number looks rubbish, they were better where they used to be.

Can we also have the link to the OcUK shop opening in a new window like it did before, it isn't a huge problem but it is slightly annoying anyway. :)

Wow I didn't notice that... yeah that's very annoying. I usually click the sign to open a new window to check prices when i'm on MM!

Having had a couple more days to get used to the new layout it is good to see that you can RTM your own posts if necessary. Also if you hit "ctrl" + "b", "ctrl" + "i" or "ctrl" + "u" then it automatically puts in the tags for you or has that always been the case and I've just been unobservant? :o

Still not too keen on the gaps between posts, having to click the "quick" button before using the quick reply feature and the fact the link to the shop still goes straight through rather than opening in a new window. Other than that I have no complaints about the changes so good job. :)

Yep, I'm not sure why it doesn't just have the quick reply enabled at the bottom by default. Hopefully it's on the list to be fixed. :)

Because you can reply to an individual post and not just the topic which shows as a reply to the post in question if you change the topic view to something like Hybrid Mode.

I was just wondering, did the OcUK logo link top left used to open in a new tab?

If it did, is it me thats changed, or the forum? :p
