Recession?

Recession is technically when the economy slows down for 2 quarters in a row. Bad things have to happen to slow the economy down. And if it slows down for 2 quarters, that's a very very very bad thing :p

The nature of it all means it's self-correcting though, but it won't be easy and requires everyone to tighten their belts.

You won't 'feel' it suddenly. It's gradual. Some more than others. I've sold my Daihatsu 4v4 and bought a 1.2 liter Clio, which is one example of responding to recession. On a large scale, businesses have to make bigger, more significant decisions.

As Knives says, it's to do with slower growth levels than the previous records over two quarters. It doesn't necessarily mean a proper recession as in negative growth but people still panic because of the change in situations.

To the average Joe you're paying more for commodities and goods, you're cutting back on luxuries, businesses are also losing out due to people spending less money overall, meaning they may be making quite a few redundancies or are losing money to keep their staff onboard, but some things like this are mainly because we might be in a stagflation (recession and rising inflation rates).

I have a big willy so recession is no bother to me. Girls always needs big dongs even if Interest Rates are sky high and inflation means they cannot afford makeup.

Gotta have a big dong.

The condom machine down at the pub where I am wants £1.50 instead of £1 now.

I ride without a Helmet without fear as given these hard economic times babies can be useful items when bartering for beer or other manly products such as lard or pork pies.

You can get a lot of pork pie for a couple of babies.

So what do you trade chlamydia in for ?

A recession for economists is strictly where you have negative growth for 2+ consecutive quarters. It has to be half a year and thats why some people say 3 quarters since 5 months of decline could lead to 2 quarters of decline.

So with the german economy having growth decline by 0.5% this last quarter is strictly not a recession.

But who cares about some arbitrary definition of a recession? You have to judge the impact on an individual basis.
