Rechargeable batteries

One thing I have realized is that you can turn the headset off completely by holding the power button then choosing power options and power off. This stops the headset and controllers from draining between uses.

Up until now I’ve just been pressing the power button to switch it off which only puts it to sleep.

yeah i think that could be a bit better handled to be honest. inwould rather have a software option to disable sleep all together and just have a quick tap to turn it off properly (as an option . i am not suggesting forcing it on people)

I’ve had better luck with GP Reyko than Eneloop, both very good and have their advantages/ unique use cases, but a little pricey. IKEA offer better value and good quality and are good all rounders for the price.

For use in a controller I wouldn’t go OTT, as pretty much any middle of road 2000 ish mah will be more than good enough for that kind of use case. I have all sorts of nimh cells and I’d rather have a bunch of half decent cells with a decent slow charger than few highend cells getting rapid charged.

I use enloop and hi Q ones
Both seem to drain very quickly
Even if the batteries are not in the controllers or if I connect them. Headset off and say a week later I need to charge them again

Might be old and wearing out. Do you have a charger that can "refresh" them?

They are not that old, but i bought new ones last year. Same problem

Refresh as in revive dead battery?

I have one of these

something really odd there as eneloops should be able to be stored for up to a year keeping 80% of their charge iirc. I have some old, not very good nmih rechargables in my spare controllers and even if I have not used em for 6 months they still work. :/

Hmm weird, they shouldn't be like that. It looks like the mode your charger closely resembles a refresh is the "grade" mode. Yeah the refresh mode mine has charges and discharges the battery until it reaches max capacity again. Doesn't always work on well used batteries but those who have been discharged for a long time and lost capacity can be renewed like this and made to be normal again.

I had to recharge my Quest 3 controller batteries today. Charged them on the 15th July and today had the message that the right controller was getting low. Stuck them in the charger and they fully charged in about 45 minutes.

I don’t really use the controllers much just to start steam link etc
