Recomend me a new Road Cycling Jacket

I bought myself a flourish yellow dhb windslam roubaix long sleeve "jersey" from wiggle - it's outstanding. I say "Jersey" because it's basically a soft shell jacket. It's certainly thicker than my soft shell Gore jacket, which has now been relegated to the back of the cupboard!

The most I wore this winter was a long sleeve winter weight Prendas base layer, normal short sleeve summer base layer and the dhb over the top - perfectly fine down to 0 degrees.

Also, it's been fine on its own with just a summer base layer underneath all the way into the 10-12 degree range as it has breathable panels down the side and under the arms. For £40, it's probably the best bit of cycling clothing over ever bought :)

I've got an Aldi one from a few years ago and it isn't breathable at all.

Just popped in there whilst walking the dog , had a look at the cycling stuff and the jacket does seem heavy , was expecting one of those that folds up into a small pack.
Got 5 co2 cartridges and adapter for a tenner though.

Agreed, I bought 2 of the Aldi softshells and I'm thinking now it was a bad idea, I've only ridden in 1 once. Admittedly it was 14+ degrees and I did a hill repeat but I melted in it! The removable arms may come into their own as a way of regulating the temperature as it didn't seem that breathable. I've bought them for commuting so no biggie.

I must run hotter than most, a merino and short sleeve jersey does me for 95% of dry rides, on the coldest days I wear a castelli jacket but only half zipped up. My fingers however... lol

You guys are obviously harder than me! :p

A couple of mornings this winter I was in base layer, thermal bib-tights, normal long sleeve jersey, another layer of bib tights, winter thermal jersey, arm warmers and jacket. Then again the temperature was around -8/-6. I'm still cold but don't get 'colder' just barely warm up. Make sure to pace my commute as the last thing I wanna do is sweat loads lol

Think I'm good to around -10/-12 now I have arm and leg warmers along with the GTX boots...

thanks but no Aldi stuff for me !

Also as I said it is ONLY from my local shop, so im very limited

The Aldi stuff fulfills a role, it's for people who don't want to wear DHB/PX gear or want to try things on without ordering and returning online. For you, agreed it's not suitable.

I'd say you can't go wrong with the Scottile (or similar). At least with the mixed weather at the moment you can give it a good test (and return it if not happy) :)
