I just have onboard sound from my IP35 Pro at the minute, I guess that wont be too good for it? Then again its not that bad quality through my SR80 headphones which are generally regarded as good "audiophile" headphones..

I see what you mean about the bass - does it still sound "full" for rock? I hate really boomy bass anyway so I guess it wont be that much of a problem.. I'm still considering some M-Audio StudioPro 3 monitors though.

The bass is enough to enjoy the music. But compared to a sub, you miss out the wholeness feeling the sub gives you, as it projects the sound all around you.

I cant hear too much of a difference really when i turn my sub off (i have it about 1/3rd on) just when its on it completes the circle if you get what im saying.

When i listened to rock on my bro's XFI xtrememusic is didnt sound the best, now on my Xonar DX set to soft rock (best setting) it sounds awesome.
