Recommend a 4tb External Drive for Backups

I'm after an external USB drive for monthly redundancy backups. The idea will be to plug the drive in to initialise an event based backup... of my backups

Ideally compact and USB powered. Will anything from the usual suspects do, or would you recommend specific drives / brands for the job?

The current data total is 1.8tb.

Well I went for one of the new WD My Passport drives, didn’t bother with the software but I bet it would be handy if you didn’t have a backup system already.

Good, quiet drive. Time will tell on reliability.
