Recommend a decent doggy waterproof?

What breed is it?

I walk two my friend's Spaniels (aged 2 and 12) and the old one has a waterproof jacket on if it's crap/cold out as he doesn't run as much as he used to, gets cold and and visibly shivers without one. Vets recommend them for pretty much any short haired/older dog.
My previous lab had bad arthritis in his hips that started to unfortunately show from around 8.

A coat was essential in the cold wet months, and had to be one that hung over his back end to help keep his hips dry orherwise he'd feel it in the evening.

My current lab is 2.5 ish . The last time it rained and we got bad floods 6 weeks or so ago, he ended up with Limber tail , (often called swimmers tail). His tail was stuck in place pointing down.

Didnt go swimming but we both got absolutely soaked and he managed to overdo the tail wagging chasing a ball with one of his besties. :)

Very distressing for him, took from the Friday till the Weds for his tail to fully work with anti inflammatory every night.

So not every dog needs a coat, but I personally wouldn't give it a miss.

After a lot of research, we got our greyhound a Hurtta Expedition Parka for the winter (we started off with a cheap one from Pets @ Home but to be honest the fit isn't great - it's just about OK to keep a light summer shower off her back, but nowhere near warm or covering enough for winter weather).

It feels really well made, good quality, and lots of adjustment. Probably a bit too warm for your fluffy beast, but they do a "Monsoon" coat as well, which looks like a much thinner waterproof: https://hurttaonline.co.uk/product-category/coats/monsoon-coat/
Think I'm going to go for this one.
The water proof one. Not the warm+waterproof one.

Thank you

He'll get to open it on Christmas. Damn dog is spoilt

Good choice, we went for the same colour :D (we really wanted the yellow one but they didn't have her size :()

Yeah I hope it's that nice blue. Not the naff blue in one of the pics! I might clarify!

If you've got any pics that would be great.

Like that it's adjustable and can use his harness with it.

Here is the noble hound of the pointiest of snoots:

It's definitely more of a greyish blue in reality, none of the pictures on their site are perfect, but this is probably the closest.

Exactly

I've got an 11 year old Labrador who has never had a coat on, and a Viszla coming up to 4 years old who hasn't least two different coats because she doesn't have much fur and has quite thin skin, so when it gets to around zero and under the coat goes on.

She runs off-lead a lot though so she keeps warm that way.
