Recommend a dogfighting game

Bit of a different path, but check out Freespace 2. I've never been a fan of WWII fighters or other real world flying sims, but FS2 is undoubtedly among the best of its class. Plus, cheap and pretty with the opensource pack.

I wondered about that one, but worried as it was so old. Does it still work okay at modern resolutions and in Windows 7?

Freespace 2 does look promising - I didn't realise it was the descendant of Descent. I remember playing that and enjoying it when it came out. *feels old*

Anyone remember Crimson Skies? Awesome game!!!

you bet stu, played in a squad and combat zone for 5 years everynight, lost hours of sleep cus a lot of my squad were americans so had to get up at 4 am to play. the community was great.

as others have said Il2 1946 set to easy go to the il2 forums for advice for getting best settings in open gl, it can look amazing.

Rise of flight is good too looks great and can set to easy also.

lockon also good for a modern fighter, hated hawx, boring as hell

Which squadron were you in? I was in Duckwing.

I was about to suggest this (the PC version) myself, but I don't think you can get it anywhere.

Grilledduck signing out! cwaq! :D

Is it available anyway? I can't find it.

You can still get it for a £5. When searching you have to ignore all the xBox and role playing versions. Microsoft still have the demo available for download too.

Thanks for the suggestions, I looked for reviews and Lock on and Rise of Flight seem to be too simmy for me (a WW1 game does sound fun, though).

There seems to be a real lack of arcade flight games at the moment.

I'll check out the demo. The microsoft site doesn't seem to sell the full version - when you click the "Buy" button it just takes you back to an info page.

I have found a copy of Crimson Skies for £2, but it's used. Is this a game that I could be unplayable with a used license key?

Don't recall it having a licence key, I've got a copy sat here on a shelf doing nothing, drop me your address (email in trust) and you can have it :)

Wow, thanks - PM about to be sent

edit: I can't see how to send PMs. Am I having a Himbo moment? Is that possible?
How can I send you my address?
