Recommend a PC Game

i think im missign something big, but can someone actually explain to me why i should buy the orange box other then saying its amazing. Reasons and that.

I liked portal, completed that round a friends. I can imagin the mods are good but i wouldn't oplay it more then a month.

Because it comes with 5 amazing games on it for the price of 1, if not cheaper. Portal is the shortest game out of the 5, I don't think anyone would play just Portal for a week nevermind a month lol.

mmm whats so good bout theese games, HL2 i have and dont think its that amazing its totaly over hyped like halo so i cant see HL2 episode one being any differnt. TF2 looks like a gimic id enjoy for a bit and get bored. I dont even know what the last one is off top of my head or is it just another hl?

I could play (and did play) portal for months!

Getting good at it (and beating all the advanced and timed/steps/portals challenges) is a very in-depth and involving feat!

Call of Juarez - I've had this gamed installed since it came out, I just love shooting people with the bow and arrow in slow-time.

Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium wars + addon - This game is great fun with friends via multiplayer, and I also enjoyed the campaign.

I need to get around to installing left 4 dead, fallout 3 and the new tomb raider hehe :)

because company of heroes is actually a good game, where as most games with the name C&C aren't im afraid, they simply reproduce the same game over and over, do nothing new, give you the same units, hell its the same game in a 'newer' engine (which when compared to supreme commander for example is a lightweight) :rolleyes:

agreed. I like very few new rts games. Best are still EE,AOE2 etc. But supcom really did raise the bar and makes playing other rts so hard because now i just wana zoom out all the way on every rts game.

C&c3 is crap. I also dislike most rts's which require you to only need 1 resource because in a sence it takes a great deal of the skill required for great resource management out. Supcom only has energy and mass though so thats not really requiring much skilleither but at least its made more tactical then in C&C. unfortunetly C&C is just a dumbed down RTS made for people that cant play the big shots properly but wana feel good when they produce units quickly.

Im sure ill get some flame for taht but i dont really care tbh.

if you get flamed, i'll join you! :p i totally agree, i haven't been able to look at another RTS in the same way, barring sins of a solar empire since i played supreme commander, everything else is just so tiny and insignificant, the only except is possibly company of heroes, but even that needs some improvement! they need to add the red army IMO and it'll be perfect WWII RTS

Edit: even though supreme commander only has two resources you have adjacency bonuses and what not to think about
 
I loved C&C games up to generals ZH, after that C&C was rubbish imo, generals was already a step down but still enjoyable. C&C3 was meh after 3 hours of playing tbh.
I still love a quick Red Alert 2 match though...

I agree with above posters though, there is no point recommending C&C if there's something like supreme commander or company of heroes around, those 2 really set the level for RTS games... Even though I was a hardcore fan of Age of Empires 2, played for 4 or 5 years in clan etc, I just get bored now after 10 mins of it...

Atm, in the whole strategy genre, I can only ''really'' recommend 3 games: Civ4, Supcom and CoH...
