Recommend A RPG

I played all 3 of the Mass Effect games for the first time and back to back last year and have to say that I actually enjoyed the first one the most.

I like my traditional RPG mechanics, stats and modifiers so I was a bit disappointed by the dumbing down in the second and third games. It's obvious they were going for a bigger market.

I'll never forget the first planet landing in ME1. Creepy and awesome at the same time. I knew it was going to be something special as soon so heard the title music. :)

EDIT: pretty sure there is a texture mod for ME1.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 if you prefer D&D style. It's bloody hard to start with though until you understand how things work. I almost gave up on it but I'm glad I didn't now. :)

Do you happen to have a PS4 and PS+? If yes, then Mankind Divided is free this month, it's a very decent game and a no-brainer for PS+ users. No swords & magic though.

Other than that, W3 and expansions offer great value for money. The main story is rather overrated for all the hype and the mechanics let it down a bit but still one of the better games in recent years.

Nier is incredible in its own right but it's not a typical RPG and might be hard to digest if you're not prepared for what it has in store:p

AC: Origins is a bit of a Witcher clone with a bit worse sidequests (still good) but a better world and mechanics. The story is typical AC drivel but somewhat digestible. The main thing is that it has the best world I've seen in a game to date, it's humongous, varied and incredibly detailed. I would play the game just for that, honestly.

I suppose that's a reasonable suggestion as it's free, but compared to Human Revolution, it's really not good at all. I didn't play beyond 2 hours. :(

Yeah, but you can't really go wrong if you have PS+. I have enjoyed it quite a bit, just not as much as I'd thought would.

Agreed, I really missed that in the sequels and largely ignored all the weapons, etc menus in those games - I thought they were horrible to interact with and only went in a few times to ensure I had a bit more fire power. I have to say the graphics didn't bother me at all in ME1 although perhaps I was just delighted to get it working correctly at 21:9 - it was one of the few games that did take a significant amount of jiggery-pokery to get it displaying correctly. When I did manage it, I thought is looked great at 3440x1440.

I'm more of an RPG-29 man myself - disposable and smaller overall dimensions but lots more punch than the older 7V2, although that does have the benefit of having a large number of various warheads.

RPG-32 Barkas packs a bloody good punch as well.

Comes in a quad version too! :D
