Recommend a vacuum cleaner!

I bought the V8 Absolute from the Dyson outlet on eBay the other day when they had a discount offer on.

It’s a factory refurbished unit but seems pretty much brand new bar one or two small cosmetic scratches.

Definitely worth considering imo as there are decent savings to be made, especially when combined with eBay offers.

It’s my first cordless and quite impressed so far.

I'd always go wired for a proper hoover. These get the dust up much much better. Miele all the way. These always get rave reviews.

Cordless for a quick daily whip around the house. I've had Bosch cordless, great auction but fell to bits many times and after repairs, we returned. Just changed to a shark cordless, great hoover but suction not as good. Hopefully the quality is there though. Happy so far
Not so. My V11 is doing a better job than my DC55. I'm absolutely amazed it's so powerful, it's so powerful on boost with the head set to max I can't actually push it along one of my carpets and the brush can't spin.

Thanks, having a look now!

Can see the V7 for about £200 and V8 (animal) for about £250. I think I just missed a 15% off selected sellers thing on ebay, perhaps I should wait till the nwxt one :)

We were set to buy a lightweight Shark hz500uk that has a tiny collecting vessel that was just 0.3l for ~£180 from Currys, but ended up buying a Henry direct.

It does when you suggested all cordless are inferior to a corded.
When really you meant the shark you have is inferior to the corded you have.
The V11 I have is superior to the DC55 and George vacuum cleaners I have, I dare say there might be a corded that's as powerful as the V11. So clearly not all cordless are just for a "quick daily whip around" and can be used instead of.
I'd happily just have the V11 now.

Dyson V11. Worth every penny. If it blew up today I'd get a new one tomorrow.

@robj20 - We have the same issue. If the head is on '+' on the carpets upstairs and you're silly enough to try boost mode, you aren't going anywhere.

FWIW - We only have the V11 to do our house. It's only a small house but battery has never been an issue and we are always amazed/disgusted at how much dust and hair (cat and dog) it can pick up even when the floor looks clean.

it can't only be me who empties the waste before every clean just to see how much gets picked up :p

Dont be so quick to chuck the dyson. An hour or so cleaning the thing properly will get it sucking like new. They are pretty easy to strip apart. even if the motor goes they arent all that expensive to repair. I dont like the bloke who invented it, but i do like the way its designed, so easy to take apart and put back together.

Haha can't believe were arguing over Hoover's. My comments still stand, my experience has told me corded is better, your experience tells you cordless is better. Good on you. Let's get on with our chores now before we're yelled at haha

Welcome to OCUK where Hoover could be replaced with X

I second the shark, imo Dyson are the masters of marketing. We used to have a dc04, got a shark and went round the house again and found the Dyson haf missed loads. The only criticism I have (as we have the same model as a few of you hsve), is that it has a small tank, we can practically fill it when vacuuming. I would have liked cordless, but imo most cordless things tend to lack the power of corded things.

Had a few different ones over the years. Currently have a Dyson V11 Absolute and it’s by far the best. Ease of a cordless vacuum + best suction / cleaning power of any hoover. It’s so powerful on carpets it can pull them up off grippers so have to be careful sometimes.

I have a dyson v10 and its great. We found the battery only lasting enough to clean upstairs or downstairs but not both.

So, I bought a shark iz251ukt and again its just as good as the dyson but comes with an extra battery. Only downside, its heavy. Top heavy and its noticeable after using for a short period.

Miele C3 here. Got it after recommendations from this forum and it is a fantastic piece of kit, well engineered, performs excellently and should last my lifetime.

Previously used dyson uprights, dyson V6, henry, and a morphy richards cheap hoover, and the Miele is well above all of them.

yea most people never clean them, powdery like dust clogs all the tiny holes in the vortex thing etc

Got the Dyson V10 not too long ago. Really impressed by it. Wasn't expecting it to be so powerful. So much more convenient to use also.
