Recommend an SSD ?

Either today (before 4pm) I'll be ordering a Solid State Drive for my computer, but I'm not currently sure which one to go for.

I've got a budget of £200 (inc delivery) so I was looking at:
OCZ Vertex 96GB (Click for Link)

But I cannot find any reviews for it, so I'm not 100% about it, so I found this:
OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB (Click for Link)

Comparing the two;
The 2E 60GB has faster write, read, sus-write and IOPS.

Is it worth me dropping 36gb (and £23) to get the better spec?

OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB all the way. It's the same as the normal Vertex 2, but with more space.

That choice depends entirely on what you want :-P

More space, or faster performance....

I perosnally dont see the need for certianly anything larger than 128gb for your OS & Apps, even this is too much.... you dont want to use one just to store informaiton on... MY OS partitions are no bigger than 50gb, currently with 35gb free...

I personally want the performance, not the size, and am thinking of bagging the 60gb, especially after reading this:

Depends what you will be using them for but I guess that the disk will be reading much more than writing.

In any case you will see a big difference in system performance, I would personally go for more space and put your most used apps on the SDD but if you really don't need 96gig the the faster drive would be a better choice.

I'd be using it for OS, M/Office, 5 Adobe Programs and any space left = as many games as i can cram in

I'd go for the 96GB. The bigger your drive, the less hassle you have managing the space. I don't think you'd be able to feel any performance difference, My RAID0 Intel SSD's feel much the same as when I had a single drive. Any current gen SSD will provide a snappy feel in windows, boosting speeds further shaves a few seconds off game loads here and there but it's not a big deal.

I didn't manage to order it today (damn PayPal to Bank delays)
But I might be getting paid another £100 so if I do I'll be going for:
OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB

So, apart from the 2.5 to 3.5 fitting, what else would I need, in terms of software, to know if it's all working at the correct speed etc? (I won't be running RAID or anything like that)

Windows 7 is essential for SSD's as they add trim and prevent the OS damaging it through defrags and so on.

You need to make sure you set the drive mode to ahci in the bios for best performance (ncq will be off if ahci is not on).

Crystal Disk Mark is a good SSD benchmark tool.

Yup, I've got Windows 7 and I'll be sure to get Crystal Disk Mark once I've got the SSD.

it depends on what you plan to put on it, are you going to install all your apps and games on it? then get the 96gb, if you are only going to install the OS, then the 60gb

I would go for the 2E if you want the best speed, but the 96GB if you need the extra storage. I think 60GB is enough for your C drive then put all you data on the hard drives.
