Hi there,

Basically I am looking for a coffee machine for my dad for xmas and was wondering if someone could recommend me one. Not looking to spend more than £60-£70.

He wants to be able to make nice coffee, Cappuccino, expresso etc with it.

I have a look and most of them use those expensive coffee pods.

Are there any that you just put milk and coffee beans in and it makes them....or am I being stupid (don't drink coffee or cappuccino or any of that).

Thanks.

If you can go up to £99 Currys are currently doing a Gaggia for cheap and they are supposed to be the nuts.

Strange as it sounds, my dad is a big person on aesthetics and he wouldn't like the "look" of that one. Need something which has some black in it.

Thanks.

Krups Dolce Gusto 2 KP210040 Black Multi-Beverage Machine £64 on lots of big websites (Rainforest one for example).

Had a tester at Sainsbury's when i was working on Saturday. Was very good quality.

Thats the Nescafe one isn't it.....you have to use special pods for that which are quite expensive.....was hoping something exists where you can just put milk, hot water and coffee beans in there and it did its stuff.....or am i being stupid?

Yes, but only because you don't put un-ground beans in the machine ;)

When I did some research some time ago everyone recommended Krups Dolce Gusto as the best cheap coffee machine, it's cheap but it cost quite a bit to make coffees but apparently it tastes GOOOOOOOD.

Not in your budget, unfortunately - you're an order of magnitude out.

Thanks very much for the advice/knowledge guys :)

Do the machines that take the pods take any type of pod (universal)....so he can get cheapo ones instead of the nescafe ones.

I bought a Krups XP2070 in January 2008 and I am now on my 3rd one, the first one leaked from the word go almost, the 2nd one just stopped working, the 3rd one I'm on is working ok at the moment, but it is early days yet as I've only had it 6-8 weeks...I certainly will not be buying another express/capp. machine from Krups and I suggest you look at other brands, Gaggia are pretty good...

Krups = JUNK!

We've got a Dolce Gusto. It makes great coffee.

IMO, it's not too bad cost-wise, though I guess it could soon add up if you used it a lot. It's about £3.30 for 8 of the 2-pod drinks (cappuccino, latté, chocolate, etc) or for 16 single-pod drink.

I would really really urge you to stay away from Pod machines... The real stuff is just soooo much better with a decent bean :)

Take a look at the Presso- quick and delicious coffee and no silly pods to mess around with.

Just to update this.

I bought a Phillips Senseo Latte Select.

It makes the worst coffee and hot chocolate I have ever tasted, nasty watery crap.

I took it straight back, Ordered a Dolce Gusto, now if only there was a cheap place to buy the capsules.
