Are you actually downloading at 1.2MB/s or is your connection 1.2Mbps down?

If the former then a 16GB download should take around 3.5 - 4 hours.

If the latter you should be downloading at about 120-128KB/s, so for a 16GB game, thats about 38hrs ish (I think!).

Not sure if my maths has been spot on but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong :)

OK so you should be able to download at a theoretical maximum of 1.36 MB/s on a line 10.4Mbps down.

So for a 16 GB game, you are talking about 3.5hrs to download it if you reach your maximum download for the duration (approx 4.8GB/hour.)

Given that you probably wont reach that maximum for the duration, I would allow for around about 4 - 4.5hrs, maybe a little more.

Once you know what your average download speed is you can calculate future download speeds based on that.

My connection is a theoretical 6.5MB/s download, but I only usually get an average of about 4.5 - 5.0.
 
Currently downloading counter strike global offensive. Opted to buy the complete series pack for 16.99 so its just time to do some work while it downloads!
 
Nah forget Dead Space 2 on steam get it from Origin instead. Steam version has a ton of stuff unlocked that should not be unlocked, Origin version does not.
 
In that case, the entire Valve pack is brilliant value. Lots of good games. Team Fortress 2 is free if you fancy something a bit different without getting Valve's entire back catalogue, but the Portals and the Half-Life games are definitely worth that money.
