Recommend me a MMORPG!

I'd like to give one a go. However, i don't have lots of time to devote to it, perhaps 5 or so hours a week, and would prefer something which doesn't have too steep a learning curve!

Any suggestions???

I'd have to say 'Lord of the Rings online' as its a very casual game with tons to do and a more mature community in game compared to others .. i've found its easy to spend a few hours here and there mulling about enjoying the scenery and atmosphere without the pressure to advance in levels every 10 mins .

WoW!

Tried plenty of other mmorpgs, the only one i think is better than wow is guild wars, and it isnt a proper mmorpg anyway.

you havnt played WoW properly yet though, gets a lot better at higher levels, and the higher levels arent hard to reach, - i play it for a couple of hours a night unless i have something better to do, and if i get a free weekend (not often) then ill blaze through it :D

EDIT: ... btw take WoW, and join server: Shattered Halls - theres a HUGE OcUK guild on there :)

Another vote for EQ2 here, if you're only playing alittle a week you'll probably get more out of the game. I found the quests/leveling process a lot more fun than WoW.

I'd have to say World Of WarCraft, so easy to get into, have fond memories of running around the SouthShore area trying to quest when suddenly a huge zerg would kick off.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but havn't they made getting from 1-60 easier now? I thought I read something about it taking less time.

yes they have, and it is quicker, their not just saying it! lol

i was running around southshore killing ally's the other week... ahh memories!

Download the WoW trail, it's designed to download zones as you play through the content, so it's not a massive wait.

I don't play WoW much, but when I do it's really enjoyable. Blizzard have decreased the amount of experience needed from level 20-60, and increased XP from mobs. The time spent not logged into WoW will get you rested XP so when you do play, you'll be effectively gaining double the XP from killing mobs for the duration of your rested XP.

barrens chat is awesome and you know it!!! :P

Where is Mankrik's wife plx??

I have fond memories of the vast wilderness that the Barrens seemed to be when I was trying out my first character on my first MMORPG :D

To answer the OP's question, I've played WoW (a lot), with LOTRO and EQ2 to rather lesser extents. I think all of them will allow you to dabble on a casual basis in the early levels, and still get a lot out of the game. I can only comment on WoW for later levels and though it probably takes more time to 'accomplish' something at level 70, if you're only playing 5 hours a week you'll have what must be far and away the best solo levelling experience of any game and it'll take you months of enjoyment to get to 70. LOTRO needs you to group a lot more (finding a group might waste some of your time if you only have 30 minutes online) and I've heard similar things about EQ2. This isn't a criticism of either of those games, but WoW ALWAYS has something you can do solo and advance your character doing it.

You can solo EQ2 all the way to level cap if you so wish, you'll be able to get plenty done with even limited playtime available.

Just downloaded the 10day free trial of WOW, i may be pursuaded if i really like it to subscribe, we'll have to see :p

Cheers guys. Lots of great suggestions. I've quite a bit of leave to use before end of March so I'm def gonna give one a go.

My vote is for WoW :D
no one has recommended Eve online. Why not? Ive never played it before.
WoW is great. "Bring your friends into Azeroth but dont forget to go outside with them too" or somthing like that lol.
Barrens chat ftl. Apart from seeing little hordies poo themselves when I go on a ganking spree haha!
I casually play my alt, in fact rarely level it to be fair but its fast with 2x exp and easy until you go to STV (at level 28 or 9) where the horde go mad for ganking you (killing your weak character over and over and saying "kek" a lot at you)
The variety of this game is huge and you can do pretty much anything in it. On a friends character in a RPPVP server we watched a marriage lol.
Enjoy your gaming time but don't type /played until you hit 70!

Eve Online looks great, but my understanidng is that it has a steep learning curve and needs lots more time than i could probadly give it!

Horde/Alliance, no difference in nature. Everyone does it regardless.

There's a thread dedicated to the OcUK guild on Shattered Halls (Horde) here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17817205

Something like 100+ unique players joined at current.

Yeah I read through most of that OcUK guild thread. Sounds great but Im going to be busy on my main for a bit as I wanna get to a high arena rating (by respeccing resto and honour grinding etc etc) so dont have time to do a powerlevel atm.

Would still like to know a bit more about eve. Heard it took ages marl but dont know anything about the gameplay or the game itself apart from its in space.
