I doubt that they're Fire Ants. They're more likely just regular everyday Red Ants.

My friend and I used to have Ant Tournaments, and put Red Ants and Black Ants together and watch them fight to the death.

Even at 9 we decided it wasn't murder. It was Forced Evolution!

2. Dilute a bottle of Oil of Cloves in a watering can.
3. Water affected area with mixture.
4. Run for cover as all the ants come out to make their getaway.

Ant Stop Bait Station

I've got a similar problem to the OP's & this seems to have done it for me. About £3 from B&Q for two little discs with a bait/poison in. You stick it near the nest with a brick or tile over it to keep the rain off. I think they carry it back into the nest & it kills them all.

I put one down 3 weeks ago & haven't seen any activity, no disturbed soil etc, since.

That's very clever, I do this, and then if it doesn't work then boiling water.

Jesus like the opposite of the hardon collider magnets, you have to boil the water to ABSOLUTE BOILING, then it will superheat the ants to death.
