Red Dead Redemption 2

Interesting, did you lower the vcore, or just lower the cpu speed?

Im running at 1.375v .. could maybe lower it to 1.35v

Think it was just the cpu speed in the end - tbh it was never much of a good overclocker anyway. Warhammer games do give the cpu a good work over not sure about rdr though

Well I remembered that my OC is stored as a bios profile so ran at stock this morning... No crashes yet.. And game doesn't seem to run any worse that I can tell...

HRK is bit cheaper than CDkeys just now: https://www.hrkgame.com/en/games/product/red-dead-redemption-2-rockstar

What's the state of the game in terms of performance and stability now guys? All issues resolved? Almost pulling the trigger on getting it...

Performance is fine imo, but there's still plenty of crashing going on. It's not TOO bad but it is annoying because you gotta save more often & there's no quick save button afaik. Also, I dunno if it's just me but there's a bar in St Denis where you gotta go to for missions sometimes but it very often glitches out & black screens and I can only get past it by severely lowering GPU load. Just strange stuff like that. I'd still recommend to play it.

I have just started Chapter 2, and I had my first crash. Restarted it and it had saved exactly where I was, so it wasn’t a problem. I’ve taken my sweet time with it, so I’m quite a few hours in and have only had the one crash. I’ve got the settings set pretty high, and have had no other issues :) It seriously is a beautiful game !

Any good side quests to this game?, i've now done the main questline so need to get a bit more out of the game, its truly a masterclass of a game but other than the likes of timesinks re bones, animal skins theirs not a lot else to this other than the main quests?

Also having done the game i went on a bit of an explore to the south to find what is essentially mexico but there seems to be no reason to be around there? a bit of a waste of a map?

Its one for the top10 for sure

There's the stranger encounters, some of which are more well developed like side-quest chains (eg the widow in the mountains, the mad scientist etc.) There's also further quests in RDR Online, which you can do solo. Granted, if you finished it completely then you could have missed some and won't be available after the "change".
I understand why you think of the other activities as time sinks but imo it's the wrong way to think about in an open world game. Those are facilitators to being in the world, an excuse to be there and stay immersed rather than only offering essentially walking around in pretty but lifeless world (like what happened to GTA V). And I mean, that's the whole appeal of open world in the first place, both freedom but also systems in place to prolong gameplay while being there, rather than all being scripted, linear, movie-like gameplay. It's the promise of being there in a world still existing after the story is over. The world keeps spinning and you get to see it go. That's how I view these games anyway, perhaps that's why I enjoy them more easily.
