Red Dead Redemption 2

Online is a bit of a hotch potch at the moment, losing connection a lot and each time you lose connection you lose the skins etc that you have on your horse and bizarrely when you reconnect it sometimes puts you right on the other side of the map, miles from your camp. Probably best to stick to story mode for now.

From Vulkan to DX12? I would have thought Vulkan is the preferred choice no?

I did a benchmark under both with the same settings (everything to ultra, MSAA off), both had the exact same results, 73fps.

However, I felt that Vulkan was more... Jittery? Maybe not as smooth with gsync?

I'm in a meeting at the moment, once done, I'll do a graphical options screenshot and test with screenshots for you.

Seems to be working okay for me. Not really got time to play this evening but loaded it up and ran it for about 15 minutes to test, the only issue I did notice was the mouse pointer appearing occasionally, bit odd.

I didn't get around to installing the latest AMD drivers, but think I'll leave that alone for now while it at least works.

Though it looked pretty nice, I can't really compare to the console versions but as far as recent PC games go I thought it looked good (even if it didn't blow me away) and ran well.

Edit - oh, just noticed I do get the error a few people have mentioned if I try to use the desktop shortcut, but not really bothered by that.

Been playing for around 3 hours, all of a sudden fps dropped to about 33 and GPU usage dropped off. Just changed to DX12 see how that goes. Otherwise it runs fantastic and looks stunning.

Working for me, but a friend can't even start the damn thing, keeps crashing the launcher. He is on the latest drivers and has tried the compatibiity fix, anything else he can try to get around crap Rockstars issues as usual?

Had one black screen crash so far but apart from that it runs perfectly. At lower settings its a totally smooth locked 60fps @ 1440p. With everything maxed except montion blur & msaa/fxaa off I'm seeing fps in the 40's (5700xt).

I would love to know how people are getting 60+ FPS running "everything on ultra".

Getting around 55fps with an 8700k, 1080ti on a mix of high and medium..........

What's the secret ???

Had a few crashes to desktop while playing online. Looks like I'm not the only one though.

3900x and gtx1080 at 1440p, on high getting 40-80fps depending on the area. Very GPU heavy game, barely touches the cpu.

Getting an average of 80 fps (benchmark says 35 min, 80 average, 110 max) on an Alienware Area-51m with a 2070 on mostly High settings @ 1080p.
Would be good to know what settings make the biggest graphical difference with the least hit to performance.

If you use Bitdefender make sure you add the RDR2 folder/exe to all exceptions (firewall, online threat protection..the lot). Solved the issue of game crashing at the splash screen (gun smoke animation).,

On a mix of low, medium and high with textures and TAA on ultra I'm getting about 40-70 FPS in the starting area at 1440P on a GTX 1080 with a Ryzen 3900X. Framerate is disappointing but it runs very smoothly which makes if feel better than it otherwise might. The menus are very poor for mouse and keyboard, the scroll wheel barely works so it's an obvious console port. I just gave up and used a controller.

Half the time the benchmark won't run after changing a setting, it's buggy. Vulkan gives me slightly better performance than DX12.

Someone posted this on Reddit. The attention to detail is insane! Arthur's pupils actually dilate.

And doesn't work for most, the majority can't even launch the junk. Failed miserably. It works for me, doesn't work for 7 of my friends, pathetic Rockstar as usual.

Majority? I'm not trying to defend the launch as it's clearly a mess and a lot of people are annoyed. But I very much doubt it's the majority.
