Personally, I'm happy about that. I prefer the more established era wild west to the sort of John Ford, on the trail, sort of thing.

God watching this western on C5 right now is getting me too pumped. You could literally recreate this film in free roam ;)

What is your favorite western?

I reckon mine might be. Pale rider or good bad ugly

Time for some oldschool

True Grit
"Brave talk coming from a fatman with one eye"
"Fill your hands, you son of a .."
who could forget that scene riding into combat vs 4 duel-wilding a Rifle and pistol lol talk about bad ass

The Sons of Katie Elder
Rio Bravo
The Magnificent Seven

MY Fav is The Outlaw Josey Wales

I've been bored of games for the past few months so I have only just found out about this game, which is a surprise seeing as I was near to exploding with excitement in the build up to GTA IV.

I've just read about the Fame and Honour thing, and now I can't decide if I want to go the law abiding route or the outlaw route. Does anyone know what kind of impact this has on the gameplay?

My first play through I'm gonna go the bad route I think. Then on my secind play through be the hero.

Interesting reading the wiki that at the moment it is unsure if your war horse dies if it respawns at the hideout/ranch or it's gone forever!

Have you read the 2 IGN articles about it? One he plays as Good, the other as Bad. The impact of being bad is supposed to be pretty hefty as you get a bounty on your head which to get rid of you either need to pay off yourself which is hard as you make less cash as an outlaw or you need to do special missions to ingratiate yourself with the law to remove the bounty.

Hope its gone forever tbh - kinda makes sense if you cosnider it like a car in GTA4...

ps3ud0

If that's the case I will never use it lol. Only to get the achievement for travelling from one place to another. :D

Rest of the time he can stay in the stable. :p

I've only just found out about this game too, and i'm obscenely excited as I've been waiting for a decent Western game for years..

Quick question though, in terms of comparison to GTA and a more RPG type games (Fallout 3 etc..), I assume it's closer to GTA in having a fairly basic character development system.

I really hope they've done an excellent job of modelling all the various authentic firearms with suitable gunshot noises. I'll also be annoyed if they include stupidly unrealistic weapons just to make it interesting, e.g. some steam-powered hand held gatling gun..

Gimme a Winchester and i'll be happy :)

I expect reviews to pop up tonight i recall on one site saying the IGN review would be up at 9am PST time or something, looked that up and it said 5pm for us that's when the restrictions will be lifted so i guess we see lots tonight/tomorrow.
