Not impressed so far While I'd love to see another proper series, if it's going to be as bad as this they need to let it lie.

Thought tonight's episode was a bit better than yesterdays, actually laughed at the killing of the other Hologram, and at the cat landing on his feet etc. But still no-where near as good as the old classics. Having said that if the odd story of this 3-parter is just a segway into a new series back on red dwarf, then hopefully that'll be better?!

After never seeing red dwarf they had some reruns on dave so i watched about 4 of them. Christ its bad, it might of been really good when i was 12 but a T rex with the poo from eating a vindaloo and a alien that eats peoples brains through a straw come on its daft.

Dunno how anybody reading the script before shooting could have ever thought it was funny.

Its embarrasing at best. The story just doesn't work, the characters are all over the place and the whole thing has a 'rushed' feel to it.

The entire feel of it is just wrong, its not tacky, cheap or gross enough to even compare to the originals and I think they've missed a trick by taking the canned laughter out.

Yes canned laughter is crap, but it added a bit of atmosphere to the shows and this new one definately needs something extra.

last nights episode was worse not better, it seemed to drag between jokes.

i'm hoping the plot of them being tv characters is purely restricted to that parallel universe as this will ruin the whole tv series for me

I have to add to this discussion.

That episode last night was a prime example of why Red Dwarf should have stayed dead, it was the weakest attempt at comedy I've seen in a very long time.

But it is - I think a fair few of us are only watching tonight just in hope they get the audience they need to get a new season going - considering how poor it is, thats just plain blind faith...

This new series is a prime example of why some things should be left in the past, whatever magic they had 20yrs ago is now well and truly gone.

The only thing Red Dwarf about this new series is they used the same actors, everything else just seems wrong.

I think a proper series back on the Dwarf could be good but this earth storyline is pretty dire.

Add in the laughter again and some of the silly monsters, Listers horrible eating habits and Rimmer being overly neurotic, then they may have something.

Theyve done well to remove everything that was Red Dwarf in this Red Dwarf...

Only Kryten is remotely like how he was in the old series - but Bobs always been very good...
