Absolutely Shocking. One of the worst things I have ever seen.
Shame because I was really looking forward to these 3 episodes, though I'm not surprised as series 7 and 8 were utter garbage.
No wonder the BBC would not commission these episodes.

The BBC were approached with a whole series that they turned down because Sci Fi was no longer in their core demographic.

Ummm.. Dr Who?

You guys probably already realised this but it's just dawned on me why they've ended up in Coronation Street.

When they were reading the back of the DVD, it said they would first try and find the actors that play them.

Craig Charles is in Coronation Street so I guess that explains that.

Series 7 and 8 weren't as good as past series but no way in hell were they "utter garbage". :o

I've just rewatched both episodes again. They really are not as bad as others have made out. The humour is outdated, but its still similar Dwarf dialogue. Just the absense of a laugh track means you aren't told to laugh.

7 and 8 weren't as good but they were still a lot better than a lot of other shows.

to true. I don't get why they are slated so much. They aren't as good as the early series, but hey where still extremely good and funny.

Lets see what it;'s like tonight, I thought the first episode was absolutely terrible, but the 2nd one was funny although not as good as series 7or8.

Anyway tonights line up with another two classics

I've had a bit of an attempt to speculate what's going on.

Assume that from the moment the met the squid, they are in a make believe world - from that moment they are acting out an episode of red dwarf in our reality (which is a fake reality made by the squid, hereby called reality 'X').

To clarify, reality X consists of 'our world where we watch red dwarf on tv'.

In our world, the writers are 'jumping the shark'. They have ran out of ideas so are introducing new weird plot devices, like making it back to earth, and lister speaking chinese. Katrina might be a new character introduced to bolster 'failing ratings' ala scrappy doo?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark

This would explain why so many things don't make sense. However, somehow they escape reality X and it all goes back to normal.

What do you think?

That would be pretty good actually, perhaps the second episode might work a lot better watched as one long episode with the other two.

Regardless of how the final episode works out I can't wait for the making of, will be great to see hopefully :)

5 specs of grit on the scanoscope, you see the thing about grit.... lmao

For me the 1st ep was better than the second, seeing as the 3rd is starting in Coronation street and words can't express how much i hate shows such as that it looks like its about to get a whole lot worse, they should have stayed in space imho all this back to earth BS is just a big load of poop.
